Hi, been struggling with this for a while now. Some say we can receive in UK with 1.2 dish. Any ideas, can we receive all on these sats.
Please help.

yep what? doe sit mean I can receive all channels on V & H, with 1.2m?

A lot depends on where you are, the further south the more channels you will receive. On a 1.2m in west yorkshire I could receive approx. 700 channels from 7w. I've had taken the dish down but with a 1m I can still receive some channels but not lots.

Depends what you are looking to receive, you should be able to get the Europe beam on Amos 2 and the Europe V beam on Amos 3. You won't get any other beams. As far as Nilesat is concerned the footprint does not cover the uk, but I have heard of people picking it up with big enough dishes, I am in southern Spain so am much closer to the edge of the footprint.

I live on the Essex coast and have a fixed 1.2m ChannelMaster dish positioned onto Nilesat. With an Invacom 0.3db LNB I could receive only channels with horizontal polarity. When I changed my LNB to an Inverto Black Pro 0.3db I could then receive horizontal and vertical polarity channels. Both LNBs are on clamp fitting only.
I do intend to change to a C120 LNB as I already own a ChannelMaster feedhorn when I motorise this dish.
On my motorised 0.9m CM dish I could not receive any channels with either LNBs.:Fish:

I don't use Amos, but I'm receiving about 500 channels from 7 West including many Egyptian channels (CBC, Rotana) and Baraem (which can be a bit weak). I've a Triax TD-10, Inverto Black Ultra twin LNB and a £5 receiver I bought in Cairo! (PRIFIX 6600i). Not suffering from too much rain fade.

Given the published footprint for the antenna's, and the fact that the satellite coverage angle is so wide I expect I'm picking up a sidelobe from the antenna. But the sidelobes on a very wide angle antenna aren't generally too far below the main beam. The LNB, I've found makes a real difference in terms of quality (I haven't got a good signal meter to measure the difference) and I get an extra 10 on quality from the Ultra Black.
