bad reception in rain

It's a well known trick here in Spain that if you put a plastic bag (supermarket type, not a bag for life!)
over your LNB the TV screen will tend to break up less in the rain and we are on the fringe of anything from 28.2E.

Sorry I disagree, the plastic bag or plastic bottle 'trick' is a complete fallacy, it is the rain on the dish not the lnb that causes the problem, think about it, if this was the case, lnb manufacturers would enclose the lnb in plastic, oh wait a minute, they already do!

Most of the channels we now get from 28.2e are from the European beam which is extremely strong, only 2A north beam is weak and we will be losing that soon anyway when 2G becomes operational in the new year.

Droplets on the dish face do affect reception (can be avoided to an extent by spraying silicone onto the dish), but heavy/low cloud (especially thunder cloud) adversely affects the signal. I've had "2-minute warnings", signal breaks up then minutes later the heavens open.

2G launched successfully last night. 2A might finally get put out to pasture 2 years late. Good old birds those Boeings.

There could be water getting in somewhere. Best to check the cable and make sure that the connectors are properly sealed.
