hi, i am thinking of buying the 1.2m raven dish but i don't wanna go down the actuator route as its going out of my budget,

I would like opinions of the Moteck H180 with the included adapter plate for the 1.2m dish. Seen it online for £150 del

regards.

I've installed several, they are certainly strong enough motor power wise, a few criticisms would be the pole clamps could do with being M10 or M12 IMO, setting the limits is a bit odd and only explained in the Russian section if I remember, I think the CM adapter plate clashes with the motor's design so you have to modify it to get it to all fit, nothing you can't overcome & the end result is pretty good.

thanks for the info, i dont install myself so i would have to leave the adjustments to the fitter ;)

this is the response from the seller of the motor posted in mdt post

These motors (CX5000) were made for us (Orbiton Technology Ltd.) in Taiwan using our design.
We have supplied these to Technomate and Eurosat under the gemini gold name, also Technisat rebadged these.
Please find attached a picture of the solid dish attachment, the channelmaster mount is similar.
Also attached is a what satellite review clip.
Originally these were sold at £145.
We are now clearing all our satellite equipment.
Warranty - 12 months

so what u think?

regards

he only give me a thumbnail in my email from the review so its too small to read. I may go with the 18inch actuator.

Have you got the original CM polarmount? - you won't go far wrong with that & an 18" JS jack & Gbox if you have providing it is set up right, - simple but well designed & strong, the H180 should get a bigger arc though if you have the view.

OK guys, i am an enthusiast and i wanna receive as many channels as i can, free or not. Which is the best motor/actuator to hook up to the Raven 1.2 M dish? My location is Manchester area, thanks for any responses.

if you are not in a rush then C.M. polar mounts come up quite often on e*** but you may need to travel a bit. personally for the price of the motor i linked to on e*** id give it a go as it doesnt look too bad at all. SSS although they sell good quality gear they charge stupid money because they can. i guess its all down to how much you want to pay and how fast you want it up and running. if you are prepared to travel then you could probably get youself a second hand CM polar mount ect ect within a couple of weeks and just clean it up a bit. the CM dishes, polarmounts are pretty bullet proof and last many years if looked after. regards mdt

Hi mdt,

I am buying the equipment bit by bit as the money allows, so i am scouring the internet for the best prices, i do like the SSS polar mount but like you say its expensive, have a look at this and tell me what you think please.

thanks again for all your advice :)

Thats the Gibertini Polar mount with a Flat Plate adaptor to fit the CM 1.2 again way over priced and can be purchased from German E-Tailors at a fraction of that price

can u supply me the store names so i can look em up buddy, not familiar with German retailers, regards :)

go on e***.de and you will find much better prices although some shops dont deliver europewide, regards mdt

I'd avoid that Gibertini polarmount mod to Channel master, the Gibertini polarmount is well made but a really bad design and especially with a heavier Channel Master 1.2 on it.

your right, ive decided to save for the polar mount from SSS, its expensive but purposely built for the raven 1.2m dish, regards

what will be my e/w limits for the 18" actuator, Manchester area, regards

Actually I meant try to get an original Channel Master polarmount, it was Satellite Superstore that originally did that modified Gibertini polarmount to Channel Master 1.2 thing & on the original design the last 1/3rd nearest the dish face (1/2 a Gibi AZ/EL & flat plate) wasn't included & instead there was a couple of pieces of drilled angle iron, he'd forgotten to include a declination angle adjustment & then added that 1/2 an AZ/EL & flat plate for that, not the best solution. The SS replacement polarmount is better but still has it's own issues you wish it didn't, considering the price it's more than annoying you have to do a mod or two on that one too on site to get the best out of them.

You do usually get quite a big arc on the SS polarmount & original CM one if you have the view, certainly into the 50s, maybe over 60 on one side and you might not need to set limits unless there's a wall in the way. On a H180 {or the JS 1224 36v HH} you can get horizon to horizon

cheers again for the info, i did check e*** yesterday and there's a guy selling a 1.2m setup with the 1224 that he bought from sss, he wants £1000 ??

I spoke to sss about the h180 and they said they were unreliable and too small for the cm 1.2 hence why they stopped selling them. I really do prefer an H-H motor though due to the size.

I got 2 pictures of the motor on e***, so what u think about it, will come with 12 months warranty. Also includes a free cm adapter plate :) Only 3 left.
