got a strange problem with my boiler you run the hot water in kitchen and bathroom sink and water starts cold and gets hotter which is correct but you run hot water in the bath and it starts cold gets hot and then goes cold again only does it on bath this started after it was serviced 2 months ago any ideas why it would do this, heating side of boiler is fine I tried turn boiler up but its does the same

my boiler is Worcester (green star 28i junior) its just 3 years old

you need to see whats happening at the boiler when running the bath tap
like is the boiler firing down
is the pressure at the boiler going below minimum causing boiler to fire down
if you reduce the flow at the bath tap does it stay hot

i have checked boiler and it looks ok to me and as for (if you reduce the flow at the bath tap does it stay hot ) I have tried that its does the same.

everything was running great until the service the engineer was adjusting something with a Allen key with a meter attached and now this happens,

I would have expected water to stay hot if you reduced flow similar to sink tap flow
if engineer has been making adjustments it could have been gas side or water side I think your best bet might be to get him back

possible thermistor problem. have you tried running kitchen tap for a longer period. ie when filling a bath more hot water required. so run kitchen tap for longer and see if you get same result.
had same issue found that if i turned on central heating first then ran tap it worked ok. turned out to be a thermister that needed replacing. (not costly)

Ive been without hot water and heating since 30th October :(
Boiler went off Sunday 30th and phoned council 10am, they sent gas fitter out at 6.30 to say the circuit board had gone and he would be back Tuesday
Tuesday he arrives and takes it all apart and says the door seal and door is corroded and need new parts and will be 2/3 days
He arrives Friday 4pm (different fitter) and the other guy ordered wrong parts !!!!! he phones office and get assured they will return first job Monday with all parts needed

Monday get a phone call from office girl that because it was late Friday the part never came in and it will be with them for sure later that day so will fit first thing Tuesday to fit

Tuesday get a phone call to say part still isnt here so they ordered 2 more doors so at least 1 will be here for first job Wednesday (tomorrow) YEAH RIGHT!!!!!!

To date 10 days with no heating or hot water and no one gives a ****

We are boiling kettle for hot water to wash, wash up girls wash hair etc
Running fan heaters (2) they left us that dont blow enough hot air out to warm a small toilet lol
Rant Over (for now!)

:Angryfire :Chainsaw: :Mad2: :SHOOTING: :FINGER: :FINGER: : whip : :bangshead:

Sounds like a similar experience I had with British Gas few years ago in November. Took three visits to identify the problem and then order the wrong parts. Then the guy who came to do the job managed to cock it up and soak the front room carpet. (it was one of those back-boiler Baxi things).

Absolutely useless tossers, but at least we got a new carpet out of it.

get on to them mate complain you want adequate heating @least which they are liable to pay for also if council property withhold any rents etc until you are sorted

Yeah council property
tbh mate no one wants to know you get passed from pillar to post and get fobbed off from everyone and all the while you are getting more frustrated

It's frustrating that the kids have to suffer

do not accept the crap mate demand to see someone winter arriving now pay no rent until resolved & tell them this also threaten to move into a hotel & you will send the bill to them usually works

See if they turn up tomorrow (very doubtful)

@ Napster you may be able to adjust the flow from under the bath i know i have an anti scald feature built it when bath running run sink tap get scalded run bath tap lukewarm but adjustable to suit

@Rat that is the worst thing about combi boilers,no heat or hot water when they fail :(

And no immersion heater on the tank :(
Tbh I dont feel the cold that much used to working in all weathers
But when you aint working and just sitting around in the evenings it does and is cold

you have the Ace card mate kids suffering not acceptable be firm

Talking about winter we have an inch of snow here you be sorted pronto here lol

Id be jumping up and down if we had snow lol think I will tomorrow if they ring and say the part aint in

Agreed. I'd never have a combi for that reason. You can wrap up warm when it's cold, but I couldn't cope without hot water.
