I'm in the process of replacing spot lights in the bathroom.

I had 5x 12v spotlights running off a transformer in the loft space but it was old and it popped and the fittings we old and needed replacing. So, I've replaced the 12v spots with 240v/50hz 50watt spots (bathroom suitable ones), removed the transformer and daisy-chained the new spots into the circuit. it looks like 1.5 t&e up there.

However, when I turn the lights on - they're really dim. is it the cable that's at fault, how I've daisy chained or the fuse in the consumer unit? Currently it's a 6amp I think

ideas??

sounds like you have wired them in series (wrong!!) I would switch them off and get an electrician to check it out

If you take one bulb out do the rest go out?

Yup, I've done it in serial.

back in the loft....

It's not fuse as 6amp is fine for normal lighting and 1.5mm T&E is also fine for lights

Yep don't use it within a series as mentioned by Ianb :)

You should use a junction box from existing mains and then from this junction box run 5 sets of t&e (one to each light).
