Just looking for a rough estimate for installing 2 new lights with a swtich and 2 new double sockets. All is to be installed in an attic which has easy access to the fittings of the rooms below.

I have put it on my hammer but it asks for a budget and this is where I come stuck as I have no idea how much it should cost. So is there a Sparky on here can give me a rough price that I should be looking at for this?

Thanks

Making a lot of assumptions...

...there'll be a feed for the lights already up there but probably not for the sockets. Assuming a spur can be run surface clipped inside, say, a cupboard (so no plastering). and there's a socket nearby I'd run the two doubles off the spur. Assuming loading is gonna be stuff like aerial boosters etc.

Would have thought £75-100 but varies by region - I'm in the North.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.

All i know is there is loads of grey flat cables running over alot of the beams. I put the job on my hammer with a budget of £150, Edinburgh, so i am glad at your price and should hopefully get a few quotes even if it is slightly above. We also have an old connection up there from an electic shower that has its own fuse on our box, is that any good?

It is also a flat built in the late 90s if that makes any difference.

If the feed is not connected to anything any more you could use it to feed the sockets - drop the MCB to 16 amp then you can use 2.5mm for the sockets and make it a radial circuit (sparky will get that). Or you could drop it to 32 amp and connect the sockets on 4mm.

You should get a certificate for the work but it's not notifiable (Building Control) in England at least :)
