I have vokera linea 730 boiler, and just within the last day the ch comes on even when its switched off.

thought it was the stat but when you turn the switch to hot water only the ch comes on for no apparent reason.....so ruled out stat.

had a look at the electrics but dont see anything burnt out..

ps its only under 4 yrs old.

anyone any ideas guys

I know very little about boilers but what I can tell you is the only two items other than a combi boiler itself that will control the heating is the timeclock/programmer and the roomstat. If they are off and you are still getting heat then the problems lies with the boiler itself.

As for it's under 4 years old, I hate to say it m8 but it's made by Vokera! :(

Is Vokera crap then?
I got Vokera boiler and paidover 2k to get fitted in .
Thought i got ripped off but wasnt sure

Yes m8 not very well thought of. Just had a quick search and they aint that cheap to buy anymore either. That said £2000 is probably about right for a gas safe registered installer to swap out a full sytem to a combi, assuming you never had a combi there already b4. May have got a bit cheaper by shopping around.

When you say the heating come on. Is it doing it by itself or ch on when you are intending for the hot water only...
In my limited experience if you are getting heating when you would like hot water then it is sounding like the diverter valve.
Last time I had one changed it was about £30 for the valve and about £100 for the plumber to do it.
Hope that's all it is for you too.

Had a quick look and this websites got the stuff http://www.uk-plumbing.com/vokera-spares-vokera-diverter-valves-c-938_885_889.html . I think I got away with service kit hence the £30 not having to replace the full valve.

Well that's BS, I've had my Vokera combi for 8 years now and nothings gone wrong with it, yet, touch wood

it may be your diverter valve thats gone. i work on the phones for british gas but have no technical training but have had this problem countless times with customers

Found this on another website and it seems to be a similar fault. Don't know if it will be of any help. They seem to indicate that it may be a fault with the valve motor

Yes indeed m8 it was the valve motor, as it was stuck hence the reason that the dhw and the ch was working at the same time.

got it all sorted now

cheers for the link m8 ;)

Thanks all for responding :)

TWO ways to take your comment m8...

are you saying I am talking BS...?

OR

are you saying that it BS that it broke down...?

As he added my quote I am working on the basis that he thinks suggesting that vokera were not very good boilers is BS purely based on the fact that his particular boiler is still ok after 8 years.

My grandad has a black and decker drill that is still going after 30 years. I wouldn't say black and decker are good products either!
