Hi All

Managed to smash a double glazed window unit and want to replace it. It's in bits and have put in a piece of ply for time being.

Fully aware of how to pack them them etc and fit beading but confused about sizing.

I have just measured an intact corner piece and it's about 22/23mm. It's an old window and i know they are now thicker.

What size is it ??

Also any tips on measuring the width/height of unit as obviously don't want it to big..lol

Cheers

I'm no expert, but I know one of the sizes is 24mm. take a piece to the place you are getting the glass from.

Measure at each end, and in the middle(verticle and horizontal). Just in case the frame has bowed! And tell the guy at the glass shop, that those are the sizes of the gap, so he can tale off 5mm or so.

Hope this helps.

will tell you

sizes start from 6,8,10,12,14,16,20 thats spacer size,(the silver or white bit between the glass)

so you measure the spacer then the glass is usually 4mm each side

so you add altogether i.e 4-16-4 which is 24mm overall

To measure the window size, measure tight size from edge of bead then take 10mm off horizontal and vertically

i was a glazer for 12 years so know a ting or two

Was a 4-16-4 so 24mm. All fitted and back to new. Could of been a bit bigger on the vertical size so packed the bottom as much as possible.

Cheers guys
