just need a little help, my wireless router is downstairs, but i have a ethernet cable running upstairs to my daughters pc, here is the problem, my daughter can't get on the internet with her ipod (wirelessly) due to the wireles router being downstairs.

is there anything i can attach to her pc to make it distrubute a wireless connection (a wireless dongle or a wireless router, that won't affect her pc connection) upstairs to give her a wireless connection for her ipod touch??

thanks in advance..

sorry to mods if this is in the wriong room

Probably the cheapest option would be a wireless dongle or PCI card for the PC and set the PC to share it's connection. However, it would require the PC to be on just for the ipod touch to use the wifi upstairs.

If it were me, I'd use a wireless access point with built in switch. Check if you can use your current router as an access point. If you can, and it's more common on DSL equipment, you may want to concider upgrading to one with wireless-n and use your old router in your daughter's room as an access point.

you want to check to make sure the router you have can be used as an access point mate, before going out and buying anything!
