Acer windows 7 free upgrade on different pc

I got a free windows 7 upgrade disk for my acer desktop.
I have just found out my mate bought a qualifying laptop but did not realise he could upgrade to windows 7 only finding out after discussing how slow his computer was.
Could i give him my windows 7 update disc or would this not work.
My acer is desktop and his ia a laptop

Do you not want to use the upgrade yourself ?

There should be a new OEM key with the upgrade disc that only be used on one machine. That can be yours or his but not both.

i have used the disc.
I never knew it was a one hit thing i thought he may be able to use it also.

Did you get a new key with the media ?

i'm pretty sure i did get another key but not at home right now to check
