As it says i am looking for a PC-less presentation large screen monitor tv for work to do presentations, information. 42" - 50" sort of size that would run presentation /slide show from sd memory/usb pen.
Any info on this would be big help

Daft question maybe but would it not be more flexible, cheaper and possible simpler to use a TV and PC?

its behing a servery in a galley on an oil rig ,i suggested this but they want it remote.i also thought of transmitting signal but 1st option is to use single device if possible,i see projectors do this but cant find lcd/plasma

My LG plasma has built in Divx support, you could encode the presentation in Divx and stream it from a USB stick or HDD.

As this sounds a rugged enviroment I would consider a commercial set, You are looking for a Digital signage screen and I would look at panasonic they do one with a network option.

Product Display: Black Box Network Services

Some of the residential samsungs have a usb option but it's a bit hit n miss even if they have it!

Commercial screens are vastly over priced.

Why pay extra for the same unit with the tuner removed?

In most cases I would agree m8 and yes def overpriced, but with The commercial panasonics you should get a full 5 year swapout guarentee with no hassle's, The commercial panasonic's are built to a better standard than residential (I've bounced them down stone stairs in flight cases). Add to that the fact you can configure exactly the in n outputs you require with modules they are much more versatile.

Given that it's going in an oil rig galley which I imagine is quite a hostile enviroment and I assume it's a company paying I'd be more inclined to pay the extra for a model designed for commercial use with commerical backup!

If a residential unit is being considered double double check that the usb connection will do what you want it to, some of the samsungs have the usb port only for firmware updates add to that I've seen firmware updates that take away usb media function's take care of firmware revisions.
