Anti-Virus & Firewall

I personally only use Avast and superantispyware with windows firewall running. I use my routers firewall and that secure as I need it to be.

You should be fine running like the above IMO. But again its down to your own preference

You can have great security, buts its only as good as the user controlling the PC/laptop.

Avast and XoftSpySE with windows firewall running 4 me

I am using a registered version of AVG along with Malwarebytes anti-malware all running fine for me.

Thats rated at the moment as one of the best set ups you can have Keith although its a bit heavy on power.
I am currently running avast with malwarebytes and windows firewall and i find it very good.
I am also trying out avira with zone alarm and malwarebytes on my virtual pc but it hogs a lot of power.

Nod32 is superb if you can find a reliable copy if you know what i mean.
I had one up until last month and it got nobbled :(
I find avast the best free option..

using avast and comodo firewall with malware bytes

only problem I get is occasionally with malware bytes running on startup. It freezes the pc. I read somewhere a reinstall of dotnet framework. Workaround which seems to work for me is to manually start it after pc completed startup totally.

Avast is as much use as a chocolate fireguard to be honest had a virus on the pc only time it found it when i done an online scan and i tried to remove it . i now use Nod32

i need a 64 bit nod32 security suite....32bit wont work with 64bit windows7

Depends how careful you are I guess. Ive not had a virus for quite some time and avast generally has been good. Beggars cant be choosers when its free :)
Suffered from malware but a few runs of malware bytes usually sorts that out

you will find that is the problem with them all.

If a file is infected and has got passed what ever you use then it will be there...you will find many posts going back over the years on this and many forums of people extolling the virtues of all the various products out there.

Many of the products give false +v's this in many cases is why when people swap to a new product and suddenly find many virii that their previous product failed to find.

i use a combination of products

a smoothwall firewall and router that includes clam antivirus for pop e-mail so it catches them pesky virus before they hit my windows machines this is a linux based system that runs on an old 386 pc

server runs kaspersky v6 server av

clients use a combination of avast and nod32

I use Kaspersky and never had any issues with it and isn't that hungry on the memory, well the latest version isn't. You can also get it for free if you setup online banking with Barclays. I did that 2 years ago and they just renew it for me each year.
well worth checking out in my view. Im sure other banks do the same, offering free AVS if you set up an online account, so worth checking out with ur bank if they do.
