Upgrade cpu help

Hi guys, at the moment i have got a 'pent D 3.4 D945 Presler' fitted.
My mother board can take 'Conroe E6xxx /E4xxx' and 'Prescott 6xx/5xx' well the manual says it can anyway
Would i see a noticable benefit and if yes what modle should i go for?
Im running xp with 2gig ram and mainly use it for net and some spreadsheats but will be using 'sony vegas movie studio 9' soon as i just got hd camcorder.

See if you need to update the BIOS before you start changing chips...

Get the best chip you can afford basically.

What is your budget?

You'll probably only notice an improvment on Vegas, you'll not see much difference on the 'net/Office stuff TBH...

Budget is quite open, even to getting a new pc

The motherboard is a asrock 775i65g

This is your Mobo's CPU list, that it'll support, and what version of BIOS you need to run the CPU...

Dont know how i missed that page, ive been on that site tonight lol. Strange as it does not mention conroe processors?
