i have a hp pavillion dv9500 and i am sick of the speed the hump of shite is doing lol so rather than feck about deleteing software, files etc can i just use the HP_RECOVERY drive to stick it like it was when i bought it.

plus i want to stick my web favourites, some files and apps on disc just incase i need them, so do i just do a backup and stick it on a dvd/dual disc?

thanks

You could do a backup of the system but its bolloxed according to you so personally I would save what I wanted as data on either a cd or dvd but usually I save to external hdd.

Save your files, apps and favorites and just write then as data then restore and put them back on.

After you have it nice and clean and all your software and favorites back on, then you should back it up with something like Acronis True image. That way if it ever slows down again and you need to restore you can use the Acronis restore and it will have all your software etc already on it.

did you save the apps exe files ? or do you install the delete the exe ?

I do the same as Jaffa and save all important files I want to an external HDD then add them back as and when I need them :)

cheers mate,

how do i backup the apps that were already installed on laptop?

Unfortunately most apps will add needed stuff to the registry so you will need the set up apps for them, if it came preloaded then when you restore to factory settings they will also go back on but if its stuff you installed yourself then you may need to install them with set up files.

Some software will work if you copy the whole folder as data and then just paste it back on when cleaned up.

think i sussed it, i right clicked, open directory the copied all the files.

its burning on disc now

rat i dont unserstand your question, sorry.

unfortunately i dont trust external hdd anymore so i dont have one so im just gonna stick the lot on a disc then install the, when i need them or even put them on the pc and keep the laptop for basic stuff so it keeps its speed.

its ok m8 lol I was saying you save your exe files for apps
you got it sorted now so no worries :)

whats the best antivurus?

dont really want the free versions either.

this any good? Kaspersky Internet Security 2009

all done and dusted, put avast on and my laptop is now fast as fook.

i keep getting messages from hp saying extend your warranty as its nearly ran out, i may just do it as the screen is getting fooked.

think the cables need replacing or summit
