H Guys
I am trying to copy a 7GB Hd movie frop my laptop, to an external hard drive.
When i try the copy & paste method, it tell me that i do not have enough space on the external, but i have about 70gb left.

Is there a limit to the size that you can actually copy & paste ?,

cheers

What filesystem is the external drive formatted with? If it's FAT32, there's a 4gb limit per file. Can you reformat as NTFS? What type of drive is it?

Its a western digital ext drive, & yes its fat32.

I have already got about 60gb of stuff on ther, so i dont want to be messing about with that.

have i any other options here?

what about breaking the movie into zip files, Is that my only option?

cheers

tom

as beady says 4g limit on fat 32

your best bet is use winrar it gives u the optin of how big or small u want to make the chunks.

If you want to change to NTFS and get rid of the file size limitation you can use convert.exe (built into the OS) which will convert without losing data. Note, NTFS cannot easily be read by Win98, Linux or MAC.
