Hi,

I want to build a PC from scratch can anyone give me any advice on how to do this and also any place to get cheap components from?...I want to make it so powerful so dont mind paying out a litte more...But im not sure how to build it can someoone help?..Do ineed to instal software for every card i put onto motheroard etc?

Cheers

try here mate h**p://www.computerorbit.co.uk i use this place for my parts

What is better AMD or Intel?...What is the difference?

i have all ways used AMD but some people are diffrent what are you wanting it for ?

Basically im not sure difference between AM and Intel but basically i want to build a ReallyPOWERFUL an Quick PC ? any suggestios tips would help me out..

I was looking at AMD and Intel hardrives and the dfference

When selecting the motherboard has any1 gt suggestions to a powerful and #1 mothehrbaord and also if i buy a motherbard will it go into any PC Case or do i have to get a specific case?

right I can put ya some links up of stuff and reviews, really tho you need to learn about stuff read the reveiws, for example understanding how a cpu works and about clock speeds and stuff, all helps in the long run, makes the decision making easier and get better quality for money, for hard drive have a look at raptors, for memory have a look at some xms pro and learn why its better and also what latency is, for graphics card i'd look at a 8800 gtx and read reveiws on them, 8800 gtx oc by BFG is a real good one. The thing before you build is definately to gain understanding, so lots and lots of reading, once you have a good understanding lifes alot easier and I guarantee once you learn it all you will keep ontop of it because its like an addiction to see whats new out and what new technologies are used etc.

Will build up a bunch of links for ya, see what ya think!!!

Basically what you need to be looking at then is :

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
Motherboard - MSI P6N SLI-FI
Memory - Corsair 2GB Kit DDR2-800 XMS2-6400
Hard Drive - WD SE16 500GB 7200RPM SATA
Graphics - XFX GeForce 8600GT 256MB PCI-E x16
Sound Card - On-board sound card
Keybaord - Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Mouse - Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse
DVD Burner - Pioneer 111D DL DVD RW Drive
Case - Antec NSK4400P180
PSU - Antec Smart Power 2.0 500 Watt

This is just an idea....Personally I'd choose a 6300 chip and just overclock it but I guess it's upto you...

this is a quality board, but did you want to go with an sli board?

now with what board is considered, we now consider what memory we can have and the cpu u want and graphics, this is only a general idea as there lots of options, you could always go ati rather than nvidia, also on the board it should say what memory is supported, this indicates the level of memory you can get, the higher the speed the better e.g 800mhz is damn good.

Alot of this depends on price, what budgit you have in mind??

and also if i buy a motherbard will it go into any PC Case or do i have to get a specific case?

motherboards can be atx, extended atx, micro atx, need to have a look what the boards form facter is and decide on a case, some cases will support both atx and extended atx, just be sure to check first!!!

Not a bad spec but i would get the Pioneer 112D DL DVD RW Drive, Not much in the price.

I use the e6600 intel chip and imo its a overclockers chip, Im running mine on stock and stil havent used 100% of my cpu when running anything, I was using AMD before but the E6*** do rock, And im sticking with intel for the mo

could always bump up the graphics card(s) all depends if your gonna be gaming, I would definately go for one or 2 8800 gtx cards.

ohrite thanks wot is the difference between AMD and intel processer then? whch 1 is better then

my choice has always been intel, and now that they have introduced their core 2 , these are really great very faster and top notch.

i have recently built this pc fro my self.
intel core2 Quad Q6600
Box975x2kr board
WD 500gb sata
2x 1gb OCZ pc-6400 800 mhz DDrII
and a gaming case with 500w psu

yet to buy Graphic card for it

how much are you looking to spend on this pc digicell? obviously your budget determines what components you are looking at and if you need to trade-off one thing for another. also what are you going to be using this pc for? if its for pure number-crunching you can go for a better processor and a lesser graphics card. if it is for gaming then you will want a better graphics card and a slightly less powerful processor. there are loads of people knowledgable on computers here, so you will get sound advice.
