Hey guys,

Maybe you can shed some light on this for me...

I have a '99 Volvo C70 and about 10 days ago the engine management light came on when I started the car. I left it for a day or so and then one day it didn't come on...so I thought 'smashin'! Then the next day it came on again. So that's how it's been, on/off/on/off. I took it to a garage and they done a diagnostic and never found anything wrong with it. That was two days ago and today its on again. They said if it came on again to bring it back and they'd check it free-of-charge but I've not had the time.

My service light is on (too lazy to get it done or turn it off myself) and my windscreen washers are low and that light flickers on sometimes...I don't think any of these would have anything to do with it though!

Any ideas???

the sensor for the washer fluid is picking up low water, fill it up, that's one problem sorted.

the engine light, right, is your car due for a service, cos my BMW was doing this when the service was due, it would be lit for a day or 2, then off for a day, then back again.

maybe thats what it is m8.

Thanks for that...I've got it written down somewhere but just too lazy to do it! I'll turn that out and see if it helps!

I guess it's back to the garage when it comes back on!

Thanks anyway!

OK...I took it back to the garage and they done another diagnostic.

They're now saying that it's the 1st lambda sensor that's knackered and is going to cost a couple of hundred quid, including labour!

Is this major or can I get away with not replacing it for a while?

Thanks again guys!
