How honest are you?

I`ll keep it, Losers weepers
If it was a purse I would return it
Wallet i`ll keep it or return if it was empty lol
Cash on floor i`ll keep it

Our youngest son 16 years old found a wallet just last week must have had the guts of £400 in it .handed it in to morrisons (found it in there car park ) girl took his name and mobile number .was collected a day later guy didn't even bother to phone and thank him

If I was the person who lost the £20 I wouldn't have went back to the shop to complain. I would've thought it's long gone.
It's always been classed as theft to keep lost money but I feel they were a bit harsh on the woman. Didn't go well for her by denying it in the first place though.

What pisses me off is the Police and prosecutions time spent on this trivial crap, there are escaped convicted murderers, wanted killers, drug dealers, gangs and general bad scum bags running amok on our Streets that need sorting urgently, but no lets take the easy option and nick someone for finding £20 and boost our crime clear up stats, Pathetic !

The Police will have a purge on teenage cyclists on the pavement next

I've always found that police find it easier to go after mostly law abiding citizens as they generally don't fight back and accept the fine or punishment like good law abiding people that they are!

Donkeys years ago when I were a young un I got out the works van on a Friday across the road from my house on a pub car park going home and dropped £200 in a see through small wage pack with a staple through the money. I worked for a subby builders and all cash in envelopes :)

Anyway I darts in the house getting ready for a big session with the lads and starts looking for my money. No were to be seen, so I runs outside looking, nothing.
I had to borrow £100 from my parents and was totally gutted I 'd worked all week for it and would work 1/2 the next week paying the £100 back.

My mum said ring the Police station. So later on I rang they said we've swapped shifts and the safes locked till the morning ring back.
I went out that night still gutted and rang them in the morning not holding much hope as there was no payslip or name on the envelope. The Police officer on the phone said, "What note denomination was it in ?" when I said all tens and a staple through it they said "Luck sod its here, someone handed it in last night".

Turns out there was a guy walking his dog crossing over the car park a minute after I got out the van and spotted it and handed it in at the Police station. I went round his house to drop him £20 but he refused and said "As soon as I saw the wage pack and staple I knew it were someones wages and they'd worked all week for it".

If I found a single note I would keep it, simply because it wouldn't be missed as much as a load of money.
If it was attached say in an envelope a wallet or a purse then I would hand it in. If it were say a roll of notes I would take it the Police station. I always look back on that day with me and think , someone will be in the same boat I were that day.

Back in the early 70's I was at a night club where I picked this woman up. We went back to her place and I paid the taxi fare. I woke early and having sobered up, realised she wasn't the stunner I seen whilst in beer. Did what any respectable man would do, slid out of the sheets and out her front door like a well seasoned ninja.

When I got back to my parents I went back to bed for a couple of hours, got up and realised my wallet was missing. Had I dropped it in the taxi? or worse still, in her bedroom. I was too drunk to take any notice of her house the night before and in too much of a hasty stealth to escape. I knew the street, a damn long one!

Shortly afterwards there was a knock at the door, a scruffily dressed couple perhaps in their forties had returned my wallet, containing about £50, a reasonable sum in those days.
They had my name from a working mens' club membership card which was in my wallet. They had contacted someone they knew on the committee and got my address. They refused any monetary reward and went happily about their business.

They went out of their way to return it and I have never forgotten that act of kindness and their honesty.

This is not money I found but a gold watch in a supermarket car park. I took the watch to customer services feeling rather honest and chuffed with myself. I spent 10 minutes queueing up and filling in a lost and found form and then the Woman said "can I have your phone number because when the owner claims there possessions they sometimes like to phone the finder back to thank them personally". Well when you are ready love it's been 2 Months so far. :(

Probably the minger that you picked up's parents lol. Thanking you for doing her a turn ;)

i found this news a total joke! Police are a bunch of crooked prats and would just pocket the money anyway if you handed it in. How the hell are they going to find out who it belongs to? Think they are going to do a dna test or finger prints to hand it back? lol

Perhaps the person you handed the wallet to just pretended that the owner returned to collect it and pocketed the money himself/herself.

Thumb up for your son and for yourself for your great honesty, you are (unfortunately) rare beasts nowadays.

If I saw the person drop it and they didn't realise, I would give it back to them. If I needed £20, I would keep it but if I didn't, I would put it in a charity box.

So basically, I am only honest in certain circumstances.

To be honest if I'm with the kids then I would at least try to find the owner. Use it as a good teaching moment. But if I was by myself and didn't see the person who dropped it I would probably just pick it up because if it were me dropping the money I would never expect it to be returned.
