Wife and I are currently searching for an upgrade on our 08 7 seater zafira. We need more seats as she works in childcare.

Seems very hard to get a 8 or 9 seater, the few we have seen are min 10k.

Not sure if it's practical but a large van conversion might seem practical. How much would it cost to convert a big transit to a 9 seater?

Or can we upgrade zafira to 8 seater?

It would be better and safer to buy the correct vehicle that suits your requirements. You will be looking at a minimum 600.00 to convert properly then you would have to notify your insurance as your car/van will become a light commercial vehicle. Look for a good second hand mini bus m8 its a lot safer all round. :)

The peugeot 807 is an 8 seater but you have to buy the upgraded 3 section seat for about £200. Not too bad, I wonder if something similar could be done with the zafira, we have a two seater in the boot but you could def fit a 3 seater if one exists...

vw caravelle or transporter . yes may be more to buy but these hold there money the best
I sold one a few years back with 250 k and 10 years old for £7500

A minibus is probably the safest option - at the end of the day you certainly need something safe given what its being used for. The only risk about buying a car that only just meets the requirements is that if you then find you need something with just one more seat you'll have to sell up and find something bigger again, which will only result in losing yet more money on the trade in.

Assuming she's being paid, rather than volunteering; if you go down the minibus option suggested, your wife will likely need a vocational D1 passenger carrying vehicle (PCV) licence. Also, your local council may require it to be registered as a taxi also.
