SKY Losing Discovery Package

Just so I get this right, if you sign up to a sky package for 12months for say 20 channels and 3 months down the line they remove 14 of them without an Email to you or a written later giving you the option to cancel your agreement with no cancellation fee's and still charge you the same price per month, you have got to be kidding me.They HAVE to reduce the price per month, its a lesser package than you signed up for.
Read the small print krusty,Thats exactly what they can do,The driving force behind it is the price increase for the new football contract and that discovery have paid a huge amount for rights to the next olympics and are looking to cover the extra cost from other providers

I know that is the reason Sky are doing it but my point is this , if I go into a shop and sign an agreement to rent 20 items for 12 months and when they deliver them there is only 10 are you seriously saying I should pay the whole price.

Thats not what i am saying but the murdoch mafia are the big player and can dictate things,Look at cable if its in your area

To be honest I think it's scare tactics on both sides.
I don't think sky could afford not to have them channels. Especially if virgin media will still show them. You would see sky costumers going to virgin in there droves.
There all popular channels and "if" they don't sort out there issues and they do go off I think they will be back soon enough.

At times like this you have to appricate competition out there.
If sky were the only ones providing that service they would have everyone by the short and curlys.

I totally agree with you, they would leave in their droves. If my memory serves me right , this has happened before with another group of channels and that backfired as well.

I can't see Sky giving in. They have already said that they thought they were paying the Discovery group too much in the first place. They have their link saying the channels are going so they're not budging. What if they want more money from Virgin when their contract is up for renewal?
The powers that be at Sky aren't stupid, they will have thought about how many could switch to Virgin. They are likely ready to replace those programmes with something that'll appeal to many.

If it does go then you can fix it with a little work and still get all the discovery channels for a few quid,It would be via C/S and a euro sub

I suspect although I agree with your sentiment there is something in the small print saying the amount of & type channels may vary over the course of time bla bla bla I totally agree with how you think krusty but I doubt its as we would like ie carved in stone well at least only in their favour if it is

Sly monitors what people watch and will probably know how many people use the Discovery Channels. So they potentially know how many customers they could lose. They probably know how many can switch to Virmin and how many can't.

thats the bit
February 2017

  • 1st - Around 30 channels from Dicovery may be removed (Sky)dont know about 30 should be 13

i like the bit where sky say they will put money towards the content they know their customers will like twats they are losing the only good bit from them
