I'm getting my driveway done very soon as I'm fed with the current parking situation outside my house. I'm thinking of going towards a resin bounded finish for the driveway, has anyone had this done and would you recommend it? It's slightly more expensive then paving but I do like the finish of it.

Cheers

If you are talking about pressed concrete
I had it done a couple of years ago and I am very pleased with it.
Looks good very little maintenance.
I have a compass in the middle and I just had to repaint some of the panels this year and reseal it

Hi. thanls for the feedback. Would you mind uploading a picture of the compass when you have time, I was also thinking about a pattern in the middle.

Cheers

Have you checked with your local authority? Some can be a bit funny about accessing a main road from private property, especially if entering or leaving involves reversing. (Seriously! City of Edinburgh Council are barsteads!).

I got ~40sqm as my patio and love it, low maintaince looks great Arizona Sand colour iirc. I did the ground prep myself and saved a fair few bob. When I can save enough im going to to get the front drive done.

neighbour had it donr about 6 years ago and still looks good.
keep kids/pets away while it is getting done. solvent smell is very strong.

Thanks for the tip guys, Can't wait to get mine done :eater:. I'm currently obtaining quotes and the highest quote so far has been riduclous, £8260 plus vat. Some companies love to try their chances. It's only 27m2 in size my back garden cost me £9.5k last year which is 90m2 in size that included a complete over haul finished with artifical grass. I'm in east london so if anyone know of any companies they recommend please PM me with details. By any means I won't be going with the cheapest but the company that does it will need to know what they are doing.

@trevortron
I live on a quiet residential street, the council given me the green the light. I've had a quote from the council for £685 to drop the kerb.

wow I'm loving that mate :hubbahubba: you got blocks down not resin, but after seeing your picture I'm having seconds thougts. Main reason Why I want to go with resin is because of the low maintenance, I don't want weed growing through the joints. resin driveway pic.jpg

Is that compass design from Marshalls?

There are good and bad points to all the different finishes for drives, I have seen resin bonded aggregate drives with some of the stones coming off which looked awful, having said that if they use a quality resin that should never happen, same with pattern imprinted concrete looks great but have seen the coloured resin coming off, also if you ever have any pipes cables that need to be repaired etc under these it will be a patch up job !!! you can get resin sealers for block paving but just like the pattern imprinted you need to re do them every few years, the good thing with block paving is you can take them up and relay them without ever knowing it had been done, just something to be aware of.

Good luck with whatever you go for.
