Got myself a new LG 4K smart TV..bloody hell what a picture blown away by the quality of the picture and sound..cracking up-scaling on it as well..well worth the upgrade i was real sceptical about 4K as my old telly was only 9 months old and that was a great all singing all dancing 3D smart LG as well but watching the 4K up-scaling sly SD channels is just wow!! blown my old one out the water and regular HD channels i feel like im there absolutely incredible quality picture..as you can guess guys im impressed....
Been converting 1080p movies upto 4K the last 2 days and play back via usb SSD and they are something else..wow wee.4K defiantly the future...you have to see it to believe how good it is..

seen them in currys ,look great:proud:

gonna wait until they start showing movies in 4k though

would a screengrab via web interface show the detail do you think ?
show us how good it is :Hit:

If you dont mind me asking how much was it and would you say it is worth the extra £££, been thinking of getting one before next seasons football starts

I got a 42 inch 4k smart TV built in wifi with all the apps like Netflix Amazon prime, nowtv etc plus a web browser loads of inputs it does the lot..and a lg magic remote and normal remote it was only £464 delivered from Argos on flea bay..brand new not a second or anything..was a cracking deal I thought.

You have to see it to believe it..mind you I've had it a few days now and still adjusting things but best picture I have ever seen.
Was delivered next day as well...

Do you need higher spec hdmi for 4k

As yet no as there is nothing broadcast in 4k but I got one anyway then your future proofed I guess..the TV has Netflix and Amazon prime built in and they have 4K content but it is very limited...however using a high spec hdmi cable will give better audio and vision no matter..I'm watching from sly HD box plugged into the 4k hdmi input and it's great..it up scales no matter what you connect too.

My sd is crap and if it makes sd any beter its a go for me, i did hear netflix hes got 4k content but as you say limited, you sold me on it now i just need to save up my pennies, i hope you enjoy m8 you deserve it

Yes if you want to watch 4K via Netflix it's £8.99 per month..mind you can just sign up and get a month free..you will have watched everything in 4k available by then.
I don't go out at all nowadays due to the PTSD so may as well have the best kit to keep me entertained...

Thats it get your self a good set up

I got the 49" 850v a few months ago and like you I'm well pleased with it, I think they are the same set minus a few bells and whistles, I can post some settings I got from someone who calibrated their set if you want. I'd point @casuk to richer sounds website.

Not correct, HDMI carries a digital signal unlike say scart leads that use an analog signal. Make or 'quality' have no real meaning for short HDMI cables, its like digital freeview you eiter have a siganl or dont, no inbetween. That applies for both audio and video siganl.

In short yes your are correct however I still prefer to use a good quality cable regardless although short hdmi cables are high speed you would still be better off with a quality cable for 4K no matter what is said a high quality cable will increase the chance of a better than normal picture and future proof you..but in reality any 1 meter hdmi cable will do the job..

As i said quailty means nothing. Just as long as the HDMI cable is certified for whatever version you require it for then quality means nothing (providing it aint been superglued together). For 4K you will need a minimun version 1.4 cable, as i said its a digital signal so gold plated this that and everything means nothing, maybe on long runs but then you just get a HDMI booster.

@AJT, I'm glad that you are so pleased with your TV and I can fully understand why you bought the high spec HDMI cable but as Eon says it will not make an iota of difference, it really is just a marketing ploy to sell more expensive accessories.
But, if you are happy with it then that is all that matters, so I hope you have many happy hours of viewing.

4k tvs are currently a marketing ploy and it looks like a lot of people are falling for it.

None of these cheap so called 4k are true 4k there is more to it then just a resolution.

My Panny and Pioneer plasmas kill all these sets.

I disagree with some of what eon stated about because something is digital you either get a signal or you do not this is not true I can tell you that a cable can make the difference if it has no shielding which you can find happens with a lot of cheap cables this is why you see picture break up/ problems detecting correct resolution the other issue is the ends this is the case with freeview installs (coax cable) and hdmi cables but people that go out and pay £50 for cables are mad.

If you need long run hdmi then the answer is run it over network cable this is the best way.
