Hey all, I purchased something on eBay the other day, paid a good few quid for delivery, today I get a card through the door saying said parcel hasn't been delivered because the postage hasn't been paid. I've contacted the seller asking for the 3.80 to be paypaled to me so I can pay the postage I thought I'd already paid for but the seller is claiming it cant be their package but it clearly is. Where will I stand with ebay on this as I was going to just pay the postage but the seller is being rather rude and lying about when they sent it so its put me in a mood and i'm going to fight this.

Pay postage, get recipt and then you have proof seller never paid postage.
Ask the people at post office to write postage not paid by sender.

it must be prepaid label
maybe sellers prepaid account has run out
you should contact seller address this issue and he should send the item again if this is the case I wouldnt pay for
as you are covered by ebay if your item hasnt been delivered

It's a straightforward Paypal claim. Item hasn't been delivered. His problem, not yours.

ask him for proof of postage as you get one from post office every time. well i do when im sending out ink

Proof of postage is no use, he obviously sent the item so he should have it. Proof of delivery is the issue.

it could have been a large letter , you get proof of postage if they not cheddar enough its not his fault but if he has just shoved it in post box
no proof of postage

Sorry craigneuk m8, but I'm not sure you've read or understood the original post fully. There is no dispute about whether or not the item was posted.

i know there is no question that the item has been posted but if you read my post that's what could have happened or why is po asking for payment ?

they only way they could do it is a return to sender but they still give you proof

You've lost me now m8. I'll move on.

@nara

if the seller has put a first class stamp on the envolope and popped it in the post box maybe he thought
he get away with it,maybe it needed 2x first class stamps, it might be heavier then he thought

How much is a 1st Class and 2nd Class stamp?

A 1st Class letter stamp is 62p, and a 2nd Class letter stamp is 53p.
How much does it cost to send a letter within the UK?

A 1st Class letter starts from 62p, with a 2nd Class starting from 53p. The amount you pay depends on the size and weight of the item you're sending. Additional Tracking and Signature services are also available.

yeah jamesboyjim might have paid a good few quid for postage but the seller either miscalculated the
postage or he tried to do a fast and cheep,in other words instead of taking the package to the
post office and gettin it weighed,he probably just stuck a stamp on and hoping that would have done
and popped it into the post box

Quite possibly, but doesn't matter. Proof of postage is irrelevant. It's only useful for claiming against the PO if something is lost in the post. Whether he paid the correct postage or not is irrelevant. Whether the guy is being a dick or not is irrelevant

Proof of delivery is what Paypal want, and if it doesn't exist jamesboyjim can make a Paypal claim if he wants to.(can't remember how long he has to wait.)

I've been using Ebay/Paypal since 2001. I know my way around the system.
