So had a take out on Saturday with the Mrs had nothing unusual chowmein about half hour later start getting indigestion so take the usual gaviscon. didn't touch it so went bed about 9 thinking sleep it off be fine in morning..

ended up at A&E at 1am just could not settle stomach felt like it wanted to pop out, back was hurting like i've never felt before..

They ran the normal tests, only way I could get some sort of comfort was squatting down but the nurse told me to get on the bed because it looked like I was going to pass out..

I was panicking as there is history of AAA in the family my old mans just had the op on his but the doctor kind of put my mind at rest and said if it was I would be in a black sleeping bag. Any way they gave me 3mg of morphine worked for a whole 15 mins then back to normal next lot was the full 10mg wow I was away with the fairies at that point!!

Doctor who saw me was a bit of a numpty tbh but ended up having an argument with the registrar's as to who was going to take me, his argument for surgical was if I had a perforation then it was surgical they seemed to want me on medical ward.

Got home yesterday afternoon after waiting for a scan but they had no slots so told me they would do it as an out patient, they are treating it as Gastritis with possibility of it being Gall stones. I still don't feel right though stomach is a little bubbly think thats because i'm scared of eating to much and my head jesus bad headache for last day think thats a side effect of the morphine? Think I need a good Poo as well lol.

Not 100% but near as..

had a turn on Tuesday night, ended up with the ambulance being called due to getting pins and needles down my arms and legs then being sick both ends etc etc. turns out thats a panic attack!! never before have I had one of those lol

Scan today so hopefully they will see whats going on and at least know what to treat,

good luck today with the scan m8

Jesus, let us know how it goes mate....good luck with the scan

So went for the scan, they were stood there waiting for their next victim!!

Instead of doing what was on the request she gave me a full MOT checked my AAA, Kidneys, stomach then my gall bladder. All she said was "congratulations you've got gallstones"

So at least I know what I have and its something to treat :) bit of a weight off my mind etc.

Anyone know what I should expect? and most importantly what I can eat and drink lol

Thought it was you Daz, Glad your on the mend and finally found some stones... ;)

What are they going to do to get rid of them? Sonic, laser or keyhole?

Only options I have been told is really removal, they don't "blast" like they do with kidney stones.

Talking of stones wheres my 17" big boy :p

As soon as I read your first post and your symptoms I knew it was gallstones. Did they tell you how many and how big?

It has got to be one of the worst pains ever when you get this, and can last for hours and hours. Experienced it myself many years ago.

I did have my gall bladder removed via keyhole surgery, and I do reget this now. I think you can control the pain by being careful about what you eat.

How come you regret it? I was lead to believe the only real side effect is in 20% of cases getting indigestion after eating...

I get bad acid reflux, and also you cannot eat big meals, otherwise you end up with stomach aches etc.

All I would say is that it has affected by lifestyle for the worse, and given the choice again I wouldn't have had it removed

Cheers given me some thing to think about :)

Did you find out what triggered yours off? I tend to have a relatively low fat diet, but have now cut out the cheese. my last 2 attacks have happened after a chow mien take out and the one before I had half a pizza and a load of Baileys lol so not sure which did me then!! haha

Both my "in-laws" have had GB problems in the past year, I believe the pain is excruciating.

I take it it was something that was going to happen one way or another- do you think the take-away triggered it or would it have happened then anyway?

Out of interest, what 'age group' are you @zad?

Obviously people react in different ways to things, so you may be fine. I'm just giving my personal experiences.

If the pain outways future problems then it is worth it. I did end up in A&E a couple of times.

Strangely I remember having bad attacks after Pizza and Chinese, but no I didn't really find a root trigger as such.

BTW In previous posts when I mentioned "big meal", I actually meant a meal that you would class as "normal" now

One other side effect that I noticed after the removal was that my stomach expanded. I used to be thin, and this changed.

I do regular excercise (2 mile runs) and this has not changed

haha I already have the tummy lol so thats not a worry lol :D

My wife had her GB removed 18 months ago and it was the best thing she has ever done she says.
She went through years of bad tummy upsets before they finally diagnosed gall stones and since it has been removed she feels like a different women.
