hello guys, this may be abit cheeky but see what you think anyway...

well, iv just swapped something, for a like brand new blackberry playbook and the guy i swapped with also gave me the receipt for it, now to be honest iv got no use for it really, so was thinking do i stand anywhere with regards to taking it back for a refund, when theres nothing wrong with it, it works absolutely perfect, and looks brand new, i have everything it came with new too.. it was bought on the 29/01/2012 from either currys or pc world, not sure what the receipt said now but know there both the same company anyway...

any advice on this, as i was just going to sell it, but if i could get the full refund back for it then obviously id rather do that, is that wrong, lol...

any help or input welcome!!!

right, the receipt says both curry/pc world, so i googled the branch number, 2259 which is a currys in north shields, the amount was paid in cash too to the sum of £169, so all good on that front, although i wouldnt be taking it back to that store as i have a currys nearer to me, would that matter, im thinking not seems its all the same chain

thanks mate, iv not really ever done this before so not sure where i stand, i mean what would i say surely cant just say id like a refund because i dont like it or dont want it, lol...

I dont think they will entertain you tbh,if it had been bought online then maybe, but its almost 2 months since it was bought,i think they will tell you to sling your hook...lol

Sorry Big Hol, I misread the date 29/01/2012 I thought it was 29th feb (leap year) I doubt you will get your money back after 28 days just because you don't like it etc?

You would only get your cash back if the item was faulty I think

Sorry my mistake.

You have changed your mind

You have bought your product in store or had your product delivered and would like to return it >

If you change your mind and would like to return your product, we're happy to exchange or refund it as long as:

The product is in its original unopened and sealed packaging
You return it within 21 days of date of purchase
You have proof of purchase (Original receipt, delivery note, bank statement)

aye thats what i was thinking too to be honest, im not really bothered at the same time, as ill sell it no problem, just thought i might have been able to get top whack back, lol... oh well never mind

As it was bought it instore for cash (you had chance to inspect it and be happy with it) under statuatory law you are not entitled to a full refund. Store credit could be offered but usually with 28days as already posted if in original condition with it's packaging. you might be able to argue it was a present but if it's been opened, tried, tested etc and shows sign of wear - they are less likely to give in.

yeah ill just have to sell it privately as was my 1st plan anyway but because it had receipt i though there may be a possibility of returning, but thanks for clearing it up guys...

on the other hand what would happen if i went into currys and said its been switching itself off at random times and overheating.. what would they do, send it away to check it or what, not like they could check that on the spot if it can happen randomly from time to time. or am i just pushing my luck here! ;)

tricky one, depends on who you get and what mood they are in.

again, as it's a few weeks old now, they could send it away for repair/inspection - thats what they have to do legally. if it was proved to be faulty, you could argue it was supplied faulty and get a full refund. They'd probably try replace it if it was found to be faulty.

the only way in hell i could think of was to say you where missed sold it ,

IE

you need it to do something and the shop said it could do it and you been trying for weeks to make it do that something

best of luck trying to work out what that something is,it is a long shot as you have had it so long

aye it appears so mate, it was just a thought really like, guess i knew in the back of my head they'd be no way without actually trying to blag it for a refund, back to plan a and sell privately!

FFS - take it back and try it on - you have what to lose exactly?

I bought it for my Mother hoping she would rally but she died, sob...

...brandish tissues, look like about to faint...

And it cost you what to take a punt lol

if you want your money back damage it in some way so it does not function properly then send it back as faulty, but make sure its faulty in a way that its not physical damage i.e a function prob and they will return you your

money, its not honest before the righteous peeps jump on my back, but if you want your ("cash back" quote alan partridge) then do it

can you not make it faulty? but something that you know how to fix if they don't entertain you.

flash the drive or something.

Thanks for the advice guys but i managed to sell it privately, at a good price aswell. Appreciated to all who replied!
