im after a service like o2 landline O2 halts Mobile Landline signups ? The Register
but the number i want has to be specific

any 1 know of any good company??

shame o2 arnt doing it anymore for the time being

but if u read the article u will get a picture of what im after

never thought of voip? much better take number with you where ever you go as long as you have a net connection, i use mine with a gigaset a580.......

ok mate no probs, if it helps though you can install voip apps on mobiles and use your data allowance, just a thought ;) cuz you can get a free landline voip number (goegraphic based) from sipgate for free!

but if i needed to can i transfer that number to a proper landline in the future??
and i need a specific number e.g. 0191 372 55 66

well you dont actually need to transfer it anywhere.

if you just want to use it with a landline phone, buy a siemens gigaset a580 its a combined pstn and voip phone meaning you can plug it into a landline and use a landline number, but also plug it into a modem / router and use your sipgate number on it also.

you can use that phone anywhere that has a broadband connection and you can even use software on the pc / laptop / mobile to use it as long as you have a net connection, people will just dial it like an ordinary hone number.

hope this helps.

if 0191 or 01913 is a uk goegraphical number eg (0207) then yeah you can pick a free number from any town you want in the uk.

for instance i`m in blackburn and picked 01254 310XXX for my voip number and people can use it on there inclusive minutes as well ;)
