now they want £13 to send me the copy
WTF
i did read on here that ppl had been sent copies now can the tell me was this from pcworld and did they pay for it ??
i am pissed off i feel like taking it back the cheaky coonts

I'm interested to know how this downloaded stuff works.
When downloaded you are given the option to run then install win7 from your active operating system.
When you choose run, it takes a few temp files and decompresses them into a folder, on my comp it was called "expandedSetup".
This file contains all the usual stuff contained on an installation disk and also a setup.exe which when run, launched the installer.
There seems to be little or no documentation relating to using the downloaded files on bootable media.
I imagine a lot of people will be pulling hair out pretty soon :)

i thought it might have been an iso but maybe the upgrade is just that - a set up upgrade disks/files

same with my Acer, some years back. I got a FREE upgrade to Vista. but it was free +£14.00 to get it??????????

probably free upgrade if you download it, £14 if you want the boxed version on a disk.

they're were never going to give it away for next to nowt without a few catches in the small print

If it's the same system as the Home User Programme, were employees of certain companies and institutions (including the NHS) can receive certain MS products for free, then it's for postage and 'admin' costs and will be charged by MS not the OEM.

do u use the bit locker or that..i would have normally got that one but just got pro cause thats all the difference plus languages
Ditto. I wanted the ease of XP mode that Win7 Pro offered, but never used the 'extras' Vista offered in Ultimate over even the HP version.

Go to the acer website and you have to apply there you will have to send off a receipt for your laptop and pay admin costs and they will send you a disc and key. But beware it takes a couple of months to arrive from initial order at least it did with vista and nobody has yet had theirs who applied months ago.
