hi guys

i want to get my car serviced it is a picasso 2.0 diesel sx and wondering what parts i will need to do this and how much if possible for the parts.
is there a special oil or anything?

thanks

I have TDI 1.9 vw golf, all i get to service it, is engine oil filtre (genuine) 10w 40 engine oil suitable for diesel engine. I always use Shell helix semi - synthetic 10w 40. New diesel filtre every 15,000 miles - or whatever is recommended for your car.And a new air filter if the old one looks dirty.

thanks i know they dont have spark plugs so what do they use and do they need changing?

Re Glow plugs.
I have owned and worked on 3 pug HDI engines, the same as yours and the glow plugs are about £50 ( not expensive!!!!) unless you take it to a main dealer.
They dont last forever and the chances are you may need to change them at some time in your ownership (depending upon milage etc).
Its simple to do a resistance test on them.
And easy to change them yourself!
BTW just got rid of a Petrol picasso, too many electrical gremlins (throttle idle sensor, temp sensor) .
The throttle sensor was dangerous as it would suddenly go to full revs with no warning!
I doubt you will suffer the same on the hdi as its a proven unit.
Some ealy hdi suffered from fuel pump failure ( mine went on a 306), but easy to change as its the pump in the fuel tank under the rear seat.
Make sure your picasso has had the front suspension spring recall carried out.
If not get it done, as its fee.
They had problems with the springs , causing failure !

Hi
To check your springs checked out, all you need to do is take your car to your local, or any main dealer in the country.
They will check your chasis number against their records and can tell you instantly if your car has already been done.
This applies to ank make of car rgarding manufacture recalls through main dealers.
Do your homework on the net first with regards to known faults that have been judged as a safety recall on your model.
Most car makers have problems of some sort with most models and they are fixed under the safety recall notification scheme.
But for this to happen your details need to be on the system of a main dealer.
In other words if your car never sees the inside of a main dealer then your not on the system.
Under certain circumstances if its a major recall then they use the DVLA database to notify customers and if its safety related then they have a legal obligation to put it right at their expense (free to the owner).
Our picasso was called in through the DVLA method as it never saw a main dealer for a service!
Not at their £80 an hour labour!
I dont like main dealers as they often try to rip you off.
They tried telling me that our picasso needed a new radiator fan control unit (a complete new fan at £240!), when in fact it was 2 temp sensors in the rad that cost £15.
I looked up the diagnostic fault code which covers more than one item, they just chose the most expense one to replace!
Anyway if i have helped you then please tip the scales and add to my rep.
