Just been watching the one show and on about the sale of goods etc. and they have prepared 2 letter templates for consumers to use.
1st one is for if you bought something less than 6 months
2nd is for item more than 6 months.
the story they used on tv was a faulty xbox from game after 18 months and game tried to fob them off, but obviously when the BBC got involed they changed their mind and resolved the issue.
Don't be fobbed off: Sale of Goods Act - letter download

Tonight, Dom Littlewood helped One Show viewers Suzanne and Chris Hodder. The couple's games console was faulty, but they couldn't convince the high-street retailer that sold it to them to give them a replacement.
When Dom informed the retailer that the Sale of Goods Act did apply in this case, the company agreed to replace the Hodder's faulty console with a new one.
If you buy goods from a trader, the Sale of Goods Act says they must be:
Of satisfactory quality - the product you buy should be reasonably reliable.
Fit for purpose - it should perform the function you bought it to do.
As described - it should be exactly what the trader told you it was.
If something you buy doesn't meet these standards, and you return it to the seller quickly, you're entitled to a refund, replacement or repair.
I have edited this post as the bbc has been in touch about a copyright on the templates and they want you to use there website found here
