Have been to the dentist to find out about bleaching and it costs £490 at my surgery.

Also looked at Laser treatment which costs £250, but I have heard bad reports about ie does not last too long and can increase sensitivity etc.

Then I looked on fleabay and you can buy the bleaching kits for like £10 ffs

Anyone have any experience or advice ?....

Cheers guys

No experience with industrial strength stuff. Suggest you look in forums. Google something like "Teeth whitening forum". Including the word forum should fetch you, well, forums, and you should get some comments from real people who have had various treatments.

Myself, I have had good results with something called Blanx Intense Stain Removal toothpaste. It's non ebrasive.

For anyone using the Colgate and various other tooth whitening toothpastes, you should stop now as they scrape the enamel on your teeth by using bicarb of soda which ironically makes your teeth more prone to stains with all the new microscopic scratches in your enamel.

the kits at this price are a waste of money m8 . there is a tooth paste called bright from a company called forever living works a treat

Sounds crazy, but have you tried swilling you mouth out with peroxide? Boots do a version specifically for mouthwash, which you are supposed to dilute. My bro-in-law uses it neat, and suggested I give it a go to combat a bleeding gum problem I had. Worked a treat, and my teeth were absolutely sparkling white! Just make sure you don't swallow any, and use the stuff specially formulated for mouthwash. Or stay clear and use something a little less poisonous!!

I had one of those home bleaching kits, it had the gum shields and blue light thingy too. It works but only for a short time and makes your teeth really sensitive.

Just googled this as my teeth could do with a whiten and this product is based on hydrogen peroxide so i might buy some and give it a whirl.

Buy Colgate Peroxyl, Antiseptic Oral Cleanser (Hydrogen Peroxide) Online at drugstore.com

well....i thought i may as comment on this being as i'm a qualified dental nurse with about 20 years....lol

anyway about 4 years ago i had the teeth whiting done cost £500 for treatment....yeah i know ur thinking i would get a discount, but i didn't go were i used to work cos they didn't do it..lol anyway, they took a polaroid before and after and u could really see the difference, espically as i'm quite a heavy smoker and coffee drinkier...(yeah yeah i know..lol) anyway, they prop ur mouth and lips open/apart with a prop to keep them free from saliva. then paste the gel on then put the blue light (lazer) on it, give u some glasses, ask ur choice of dvd u want to watch from what they have ..or u can take ur own... come back in half an hour, paste some more on then come back again in half an hour, turn everything off, take out the prop, ask u to rinse then take another pic....wollahhh all done......but about 5 hours later thats when the sensitivity kicks in....if u have it done have the last appointment as late as possible of the day...my mouth was going like i was eating a load of strong pickled onions, when it really starts to kick in the best thing to do is go to bed, but when u wake up in the morning it's all gone....u don't suffer from the sensitivity again after that, it's just that evening and the same thing happened to me mate aswell, so it wasn't just me... since then i have heard of this home kit u can buy from them which is about £250 so i don't know if u have ur prices round the wrong way.....

Nice one, my next app aint until March 2nd so will have a chance to see if it works for me.....could save me ££££ :)

Cheers

How you getting on with this anyway mate?

arm and hammer tooth paste the whitener is meant to b really good but just remember if u do use whitener for how ever long..make sure it has fluoride in it and if not still brush your teeth with your other toothpaste

I use the kits off flea bay they work a treat m8. Best to start off with a kit with one 10ml Syringe with about 23% Carbamide Peroxide Gel to see how you go. Don't try the really strong stuff at first as this can burn your gums depending on how sensitive they are. Also go for a kit with the Remineralising Gel as this provides a protective layer on your enamel which also helps to prevent the colour fading back after bleaching. These kits are alot cheaper than the dentist m8 and defo worth a go for less than a tenner.

Hi There
My wife works for a dentist and she says that the laser treatment is a quick fix and works well but it is a one off and your teeth may stain up again quite quickly. When you visit a dentist they will provide you with a purpose made mould of your teeth into which you put the bleach solution and you can use it as often as necessary, it will take a few applications to start with, but you can always get refill bleach kits. As for what is on offer on ebay I can't comment, but the mould that you use will obviously not be purpose made so will not be as comfortable to use and also the %of the bleach solution may not be so strong or may be stronger she says the maximum strength used where she works is 17%

I got a bleaching kit about 5 year ago off the back off a magazine was arount £35 quid you dropped the mould into boiling water for 5 mins are so then had to bite into it and press all around it to take shape then pop it in the fridge you got a 150ml of bleaching paste to use with it done the job but you needed 10 hours of bleaching before you could see a difference was a pain in the ass but worth it in the end.
