anyone got a ford focus

Jeez you're getting lazier lol.

try this:

Auto motion lock:
1. Turn on ignition till dash lights come on but don't start engine!
2. Lock the door using the lever on the door handle and then unlock 3 times
3. Turn off ignition
4. Repeat 2 but with ignition OFF
5. Turn on ignition - should hear a beep
6. Lock door again as in 2 BUT ONLY ONCE - final beep should be heard
7. Done!

Doors should now lock at around 5mph. including reverse!!!

Think this one is a bit clearer:

Auto Door Locking

  • 1. Turn on the ignition but dont start the engine
  • 2. Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle, and then pull the handle slightly to reopen it (Repeat this operation three times)
  • 3. Turn off the ignition
  • 4. Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle, and then pull the handle slightly to reopen it (Repeat this operation three times)
  • 5. Turn on the ignition but dont start the engine. A beep should be heard
  • 6. Lock the door by pushing in the button below the handle and then pull the handle slightly to reopen again. A final beep should be heard and then start the engine.
Basically, once you set this up the doors will lock automatically more or less as soon as the car starts rolling, nominally @ 7kph. You'll still be able to open the doors by pulling the interior handle, but they won't be able to be opened from the outside. If you stop and open the door though they won't relock automatically unless you turn off the engine and restart - basically, it works once per journey, after that you have to do it manually. And in the event of an accident, the airbag system will unlock the doors automatically, so you don't need to worry about that aspect.

is it possible to have the doors lock when you drive off ?

Quick question, is this a safety feature to stop people falling out or to prevent car-jacking? Heaven forbid your car's in a smash but if so it could be beneficial to have the doors unlocked. Just a thought.

airbag system will open the doors again mate. same as my alarm system, it locks the doors when you start the car... but should the airbag system activate it will open them again... an isolate the engine etc.

Hi devil666x

is that something for all fords or just focus ? if it isnt do you have instructions for 06 mondeo........ :) ....ta

the lock doors feature as you drive off is standard on the mrs car (seat)

I have a Renault scenic and it never had the auto door lock (must have been switched off)

I had to put a new battery on it a few months back now it has auto door locking lol

when phoning Renault about it they said renewing the battery must have reset it lol

the auto lock feature was only available on some GEM modules on the MK1 and Mk1.5 focus. (1998 to 2005)

The newer shape focuses (Mk2 and Mk2.5) were not equiped with this feature at all :(

a mk2 falls under the 1998 - 2005 range aswell as i have a 2003 focus and its under mk2
mk1 is 1998 to 2002

Sorry mate, this is a common error by parts dealers and non-ford sellers.

If you have a 2003 then you have the facelift model of the Mk1 (aka Mk1.5)

The Mk2 was released in 2005 (the Mk2) and this has recently been "facelifted" too with the latest model being a Mk2.5.
