The Urine test
THIS GUY MAKES A GOOD POINT
This was written by a rig worker in North Sea - he makes a lot of sense!

I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to earn that pay cheque, I work on a rig for a drilling contractor. I am required to pass a random urine test, with which I have no problem.
What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque because I have to pass one to earn it for them?
Please understand that I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do on the other hand have a problem with helping someone sit on their ass drinking beer and smoking dope.
Could you imagine how much money the government would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a welfare cheque? Please pass this along if you agree or simply delete if you don't.
Hope you will pass it along though, because something has to change in the UK, and soon!

What does everyone think.

Good idea.

But they will just be classed as substance abusers, taken off job seekers, and given disability.

Why? Because this country is softer than the Stay Puft marshmallow man's babys arse.

it does make sense, why should benefits go to those who are hooked on some drug.

The only problem I see with it is that who is going to pay for all the testing if it were mandatory?

I dont think it would, in fact it would be a really good idea to say "If you want jobseekers/housing benefit, then you need to prove you are not wasting it on drugs".

Its just the problem about who would foot the bill

Im sure the money for a random testing scheme could be found.

I would think testing everyone would be the best thing. It would hit so many things at once.

For instance, single mums would have to prove they are not addicted to anything which could help prevent some child abuse.

It would be easily circumvented tho m8. They would just take some elses urine and pass it as their own. They are not gonna be watched peeing into a bottle.

most places were I have worked that require you to do a test they actually watch you fill up the bottle in such a way that it is practially impossible to cheat the system.

Simply playing "devils advocate" the following points do pop up.

People on benefits are not criminals.

If I take my mate out on the piss and pay for his drink will he lose his benefits ?

Where do we stop ?.. booze...drugs...fags...chocolate... too much tea ffs

Surely peeps buying booze are putting money back into the system ?

It all sounds like a fantastic plan that would cost millions & millions and fall flat on its face because of religious belief, red tape and legal issues and just become another hated government dept that wastes more money than it saves.

Perhaps in an ideal world, but we don't live in one sadly.

Where did you work ? Gays R Us ? :roflmao:

well, now that FUBAR is flinging the childish insults around already, bang goes the thread.

I would be interested to hear from anyone else that done a urine test for work that they actually followed you into the toilet and watched you pee !

I have had several urine tests over the years for one reason or another but have never had my willy watched :)

Sounds like a plan to me.

I kind of don't mind pot heads who can hold a job down and do it well, but people on benefits I agree they should be tested.

I have a big problem with coke'eds who give no thought to Columbia or Peru who's people are basicaly on their knees because Mr and Mrs wannabe local celebrity can snort it with a £20 note on a Friday night and think they are a cut above the rest becasue they would never use a £5 note like the dirty smack'eds who live on council estates - get real, you're a smack'ed too!! To think it has passed through the hands of murderas and rapists and the self centeredness and snide of such a person deludes them to the point where they don't care about facts like this. Uhhhhhhhh, don't get me started.

At the end of the day tests like this are only helping the person out no matter how much they hate it at the time...

It might sound silly but don't smack head and drunks get even more benefits than the joe bloggs ?

So how can we stop money from one "meduim" user and give more to the heavy user ?

think i heard the same mate. if your an alcky you get more money dont no about smack heads. just put the smack heads in a hole and fill it in end of

And after they get disability they would probably get their dope for free too on prescription.

If you had ever been through a random drugs test, then you would know that they dont actually watch you physically urinate. I think that was clear from my post.

Before you take this on yet another crusade, the point of this is to highlight that people who work and pay taxes sometimes need to pay for other peoples highs when they are on benefits. This has nothing to do with chocolate bars.

People who do claim benefits should be tested to see if they are taking drugs, especially those with dependants. Random tests would be good enough, but mandatory tests for all claimants would be better if the money can be found to do it and the government ever considered such a plan.
