Ok so they knocked the old shed down however 1 of the walls they had to leave, as it was too close to the neighbours fence and apparantly the foundation was underneath.

So they are gonna keep the one wall and build the height of it and the width to increase the size.
Should this be an issue?

Heres a pic of the current stage - It will measure around 15 foot in Length, 10 food in Width and 8foot by height.

if its 5 meters or more from the main building (the house) you sould be ok

Stage 1 of any new shed m8 is the same as being a Willie Thorn star..........you need to get wood !!!!

Get wood?
Were building it like a room (mini gym) with block bricks.
My question was will that single wall be ok to keep and build on top of it and on the side to extend the height and width of it?

That's not a shed m8, it's a bungalow lol

Are you doing all the work yourself or is a builder doing it?
Have you discussed it with the local authority regading planning permission and buildng regs?

The wall at the back looks like your boundry wall. How much higher are you going up that??

Curly

As far as I know planning rules in England have been relaxed now.
You will still need to inform them i think but u wont need full planning permission.

I've got the permission and in regards to the heigh it will be level to the top brick then slanting down.
Builders are doing the job, I was just helping the builders skip the broken bricks.

What you guys think of that one wall, should it be ok to build on and extend height and width?

Its not the back wall but the side wall (left of the ladder in the pic).

i would knock it down for what its worth m8 it doesnt cost much to build and it will meen the brickies will after get the lump hammer and chissel out it would weaken the wall and just take up more time its best to start from fresh.

were you have lifted the flags is that were your extending it out to?

Well the builders have said to leave it as the foundationw as very strong (stronger then they expected) and rather knocking it down, it would be better to build on the wall.
They will render it from the outside and damp course/plaster from the inside.

They also have a warrenty that anything they have done that goes wrong, they will come and sort out.

Where the slates are taken out is where it will be extended to - correct

As long as the builders have checked the foundations, and they are happy then everything "should" be ok. But I would only trust a few select very close building trade mates of mines to actually make such a decision. I suppose if you know the builders and they are repuitable then all should be ok. Ie technically this type of thing is done pretty often.

I dont really know the builders but they done a good job with neighbours house work. They seem to know what I want but today in the nature of the buissness, any 1 will say what the customer wants to hear to get more money.

I have choice by tommorow morning - Either make him get rid of that wall by probably brick by brick or demolish neighbours fence (cann't just lift it up as its 1 single, old, fence that goes from 1 end to another) or build on it?

What would be the best choice, considering the 3k were paying and if they do a good job with myne my neighbour will also get the shed done?

sorry for the late reply mobad, ive had other things on mind at the moment.

i would knock every thing down and start afresh.theres no way of knowing how strong the original foundation concrete is without specialist surveys.

so dig out your old concrete found including the floor and get a good job done.

keep me posted and i,ll try and see your build is ok.

Heres how the shed stands so far -

Looking good.

I think the standard for a single skinned wall is that there should be a pier every 10 feet to support it.
You said yours was going to be 15 feet and from looking at the pictures I can't see any piers. Am I missing them or do you think they are not doing them???

I'm not sure if they will use one or not, as I have not been home for the past two days I have been unable to ask the builder.

Day 5 - (progress was minimum due to the heavy down fall).
