i need some advice for a good friend in malta.

a couple of weeks ago he purchased a Pc case from www.x-case.co.uk, when ordering on line it asked for his country for shipping costs,
found malta in the dropdown list, when he processed the order it came up shipping method europe free delivery.
total cost was for the case plus VAT. transaction went through via paypal and received email confirmimg his order and payment received.

after a couple of days he emailed x-case to ask about estimated delivery date, he had no reply so asked me to ring them, they told me there is
no free delivery to malta, told them web site states free delivery, they then told me it was a mistake and wanted £25 for delivery.

what would be the next step to take.

tell them to fook off and ask for a full refund

seeing as it is online it is harder to get anything done.Best bet is to tell them you want to take further action i.e solicitors. If they shit themselves they will give you free shipping,if not ask for a full refund.Which he is perfectly entitled to do.

request to speak to a manager- be nice but insist its their fookup and they should deliver it for free, as stated above threaten them that you will be taking this further - give it ure best shot - if all fails then cancel order and get a full refund

Maybe this might help you

Shopping Online
When you shop online you have the same rights as when you shop on the high street. In other words:

If you purchase goods that are not of satisfactory quality you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund, depending on the circumstances of the case.
Any description of information about goods or services should be accurate and not misleading. If you have been given false or misleading information you may be entitled to a refund.

The good news is that you also have additional rights when shopping online under European legislation:

Goto the link below, the European Law covering all purchases of goods, and goto Shopping on Line take a look through and you will see how you m8 stands. In his case if the ad was misleading, which on the face of it it seems so, then he has a case. But always be calm and politem make notes of the time & date of any conversation, and anything said, and let them hang themselves if you need to go to a solicitor.

Another trick to do is a little research before calling.

For example,

Try and find a direct email or contact number for head ofice or the director or something. Then when you call the store firstly ask who you are speaking to and take note, then carry on your conversation and if you get nowhere ask to speak to the duty manager.

If they refuse then bring into the conversation using their own name that you do have the directors personal email or phone number (whichever you have) and thell them if you do not get any joy you will be contacting the director personally, also make sure you use their name in the conversation again.

I think that may sway them into action if they value their jobs. (Hopefully, lol.)

But seeing as this company is more of a one man band I think the direct approach for a full refund will probably work.

It is clearly an error on the site mate as I have just tried to order to Malta and it is now £20 for postage, so at least they have admitted their error, so just go for the refund and let it be. I think they will honour it without any hassle.

i just done a test order to malta for the same case as my friend ordered, X-CRUISER-AL case, delivery to malta still comes up free.

i spoke to the company on monday they just said it would cost more than the box is worth to send it to malta, they then told me they are going to refund my friends account.

they would not budge on the free delivery but my friend has now taken it up with paypal

many thanks for all the advice
