Just downloaded matrix in 1080p can I play this on my puter? tried playing it in vlc and it gliches and all sorts is there any software that can handle this or am I wasting my time

It sounds like your PC isn't powerful enough to play it. At least with software decoding. If you've got an NVidia graphics card from the last few years (6x00 or greater I think), then you should have hardware support for decoding. Have a search for 'purevideo'. I seem to remember at one point you had to pay for it, but this may have changed (and I'd have thought it could be 'obtained' by other means).

I don't know about support for other graphics cards, but there should be something similar for ATI cards. Even some of the later Intel built in cards have limited decoding support.
