ok peeps i got a mk3 its been sitting around for 2 yrs and now ive decided to get driving it.
first of all i would like to tell u about the car.
1. the car was a cat C purchased from hbc salvage
2. it was front end damage and both air bags deployed.
3. ive replaced the front, driver side wing, bonnet, front bumper and bumper bar. and the full inside dash and steering wheel inc air bags.
4. when i left the car of road somewere. some prick broke the driver side window and pinched the front tyers both sides.
5. ive replaced the window.
now ive got some tyres here but before i put them on i noticed the brake disk rusted quite a bit. so ive ordered a full set of disks and pads for front and rear from ebay. £67 + £14 delivery. mintex brake disks and pads.
im waitin for the disks and pads to arrive(hopefully wednesday)
i didnt get a log book because it needs a vic test.
so my question is : when they do the vic test, i know they check the vehicle id .etc but should i take the car in fully repaired or have it checked like it is and then repair and mot .etc?
im not a mechanic but i mangaed to fix it up so far but my friend is a mechanic and he offered to change the disks & pads for £45 plus allign the bonnet up properly and make sure its working ok and ready for mot.
its a 1.8 petrol, and it starts and runs smooth even tho its been left for soo long! i was worried the engine might be siezed but now im a bit worried on the brakes they could of siezed?
and what if the vic centre asks who carried out repairs? would it matter if i did them myself?
and any other things i should look out 4?
cheers peeps
