hi people

i am looking to buy a new car, the deal was done untill it came to payment, the bloke is selling a car for his gf, and wants payment made to him. but the girlfriend is on the log book.
i ant met his girlfriend, who brought the car in may he does have proof where the car was brought.

Is this something normal, or does it sound strange.
please let me know

many thanks.

your best bet is you contact his g/f and ask her if she has given him permission to sell the car

and if she says its all ok should i make payment to him?

if she says pay him but make sure you get it in writing and a receipt
if you can visit the address on the docs
regards

It does sound a bit iffy and possibly a stolen car and doc's...

I always feel safer buying at an auction or dealer

he said he can provide copy of her passport so we knw its her car. he also said we can post log book togetheir, i am getting a hpi check.
i dont knw if paying the other person is normal

that means nothing having a copy of something
you need to see original no copies and you need to see and speak to her if not tell him to go fook himself
regards

Sounds dodgy to me aswell, if its g/f then what is the problem making the payment to her. You definetly need to speak to the registered owner as the may have split up and he had her passport at his place. Do as said above, go to registered owners address and get payment option approved by owner, if he has nothing to hide then there wont be a problem.

first of all the registered keeper is not necceserily the owner of the vehicle it clearly states this on the V5 if he has all the documentation for the vehicle you should be ok trust me ive been in the motortrade for 15 years
its always best to HPI a vehicle before you buy one privately to ensure there is no stories behind it and i advice this to anyone buying a car off a private person

big downside to paying someone who is not on log book you have no proof you have payed for the car as the money is not going to the car owner ,,

to make you feel better and since your a member on here ill do you a hpi gold check for £15 if that makes you feel better :) it gives you £10,000 worth of indemnity cover too in case hpi feck up
