A Mate of mine keeps saying he'll bring this dvd to my house to set up my TV and i've heard of othe people using these to set up the TV.

Anyone know where i can download such a disk, looked on lots of freeware/Newsgroup sites but not found much.

Seeing as i've had the TV 18 months im making it my mission to find a disk this week!

cheers

its used to calibrate your LCD/Plasma for optimal viewing. The disc shows a series of patterns etc and you adjust your TV untill you achieve the desired result

is there any other place i can get it from as i dont have any star wars dvds

thanks

there are professional calibration DVD's (if you need the names let me know and i can dig it out)...... i would try bitorrent but you will be looking to download the full DVD ISO, which isnt small.........but for perfectionists definetaly worth it

What you need is the DVE disk (Digital Video Essentials).

Can't even compare it to some of the test screens on Star Wars disks etc as this is a dedicated dvd for setting up plasma/lcd/projectors to a decent standard. however if you wanted to go one step further you could lash out £250 to have someone come to your house to do it professionally! : shocked2
But this disk gets you decent results after working through most of the menus. Takes a bit of time, but worth it.

Not sure of the cheapest place to get it but here's a starter....

Can you tell me which newsgroup it's on mate?
(or the name of the indexing site that you found it on)

I've found a copy of it on alt.binaries.boneless, but it's 142 days old and big chunks are missing.

i've also heard from another place you can rent it from blockbuster??!! dont know if thats true or not ..... but it may be worth someone taking a look.

I'm downloading it just now (very slowly), once I have it I'll upload it to a newsgroups and PM everybody the nzb file.

If anyone uses eMule or any other eDonkey client then I can send them the ED2k link.

I have the test patterns in HD as well as the DVE disc if anyone wants a copy. Please PM me

If people are going to be doing a basic greyscale and contrast calibration the DVE disc should be more than enough.

I've done this quite a few times so if anyone needs any help I may be able to help.
