Hi all.

I will have a brand new box and card arriving tomorrow and wondered if there there is anything different should be done with a virgin system??

I have read all the tuts and will be using the fantastic one written by noviceangel as my main guide.

The box is a Sammy 2100c and NTL Card, both have never been used before.

Thanks.

You will be able to set the netid in the engineers menu (you can only do this once, thereafter you will need to use jtag or funcard).

Also, the boxkey on the card will almost certainly be fake so you will need to jtag to get the boxkey. Depending on when the box was made, the card may be rev B0D (i.e. useless).

Thanks Bammy, you must have Extensive knowledge or ESP as you were correct and I now feel ripped off!

Box arrived, and yes it is a B0D card, doesnt look brand new as the seller advertised.

So as a newbie what do you recommend:

1. Keep box and card, jtag box for BK, use funcard and wait for B0D to be cracked....or

2. try and return the box and get one that is not B0D

As a newbie, I have no idea how long it takes for card revisions to be cracked. Comming from the sat scene, I know this is like asking how long is a piece of string!!!

Any advice would be very useful at this point before I open the box.

Thanks.

If you got the box from ebay then you may find that the seller will be unresponsive unless you asked these questions before hand. As far as sending it back, this really depends on how much you paid for it and if the condition is really bad, these boxes go for around 50 inc on ebay so if that's what you paid then I'd stick with. Unless the box was a real virgin box then you'll most likely get a box with a locked card, BOD currently can't be unlocked but BOC can. In terms of unlocking unless you have an unlooper then even a BOC card can't be read so you'll need to jtag it in any case to get the BK.

If the box itself is OK then I would stick stick with it, get the BK with a jtag and buy yourself an unlocked rom11 card on ebay - they are readily available on buy it now for around £9.

Thanks guys.

Just purchased universal jtag, unlocked Rom11 and a tit2.

That should keep me busy for a few hours.

Thanks for all your help.

You'll also need a programmer if you don't have 1 already.

IAmATeaf.

I do have a couple of programmers left over from the days when I used to do my own cards for sat tv. They should work with the cards I am experimenting with.

Thanks m8.
