l have one and its crap m8 epg works for today and alittle bit of tomorrows tv so u have to set the record manualy, the family cant use it , l've put it upstairs now and the vox2 back in the front room its a better box, get a dvd recorder m8 or wait till the softwares sorted or it .

it aint that bad smirnoff, the hardware is hi-tech but as smirnoff states the software could do with a bit of improvement. buy it its future proof!

I agree with ya on that.

Smirnoff is being a bit harsh on these babies.

They have potential as long as people buy them then the software will updated to fix bugs.

I'm sure in the next few months the 'small' problems with epg and setting record will be a forgotten memory.

My box works fine, apart from only Now and Next EPG. It has some pretty neat functions - for instance I cant set my box to automatically record say channel 4, every Sunday night at 8.00pm when my favourite show is on -it will keep recording that channel every sunday until I tell it to stop.

One of the box's software developers I have been speaking to also uses the Replay box in his house - he is Pure NTHell VOD and only get's now and next EPG. He says hes gonna start working on the EPG once all the glitchin is fixed.

boxs are definetly worth the money, its a new product first in its kind surely people cant base there judgement on its FIRST firmware. im surprised how many features actually worked for a first revision. i think alot of people are being harsh, the problems have been acknowledged and a fix is on its way.

Elite

l'd like to see the software updated but still not sure how it can stop bufferting on the harddrive? next time u r watching a program and the screen starts freezing press pause and then play a second later, u will see that the picture stops playing up , can anyone tell me thats a software problem? and if your watching something your recording without pausing and the pictures freezing all the way to the end and then watch what u have recorded theres no freezing?
is the harddrive taking power away from the box?

sorry alot of ???? in that but like to see if anyone else has found this..

:Cheers:can anyone answer this one please

Nah m8, it's probably cos it's a faster HD inside than it's rated for. I had the buffering thing aswell and cured it by ,as u say, waiting a little before watching. Also i found that the glitching was solved (mostly) by leaving the unit in standby rather that switching off totally as a i found that boxes been off for a while took a while to 'heat' up.

your right - 5400rpm Seagates are what the Replay Box is built for.

These are the same hard drives used in Sky + and are optimal for PVR.

I bought myself a 40gig Seagate 5400 off Ebay for £17 - it was taken from a brand new Sky + box which was being upgraded.
I get no glitching and have perfect PVR functions - its just damn EPG thats pissing me off now

Seagate is the best so the guy who sold me the box say it should run at 7200.the old drive is slower and does stick i think its 5400 i had that speed drive one of my coms it stuck and froze up all the time when i changed it to a better faster drive it worked great the freezing was gone hard disc reaction is important to how well a box or your computer works.

but why is it l get picture breakup without harddrive in use and when l pause and play from drive the pictures ok
