Been running a DM800HD for many years on a DVB-S tuner.

With the recent changes I have decided to put a DVB-C tuner into the box and give this a go.

Tuner is on route from China so got a few weeks to get my head round what is needed. VM already installed and live at home so no problem in terms of feed.

Can anyone give me some pointers on

1. Is the my box #75 a workable option to switch to cable?

2. What is the best option in terms of image available for my box.

All going well once I get the hardware ready I am sure I can find my way through tutorials etc.

Apologies if simple questions - been here a long time but the cable bit is all new to me.

Cheers in advance.

Original or Clone box ?

Something tells me it was prior to the Ferrari Sim. Might be wrong but I seem to remember this coming a month or 2 after I bought this.

Ok so flash a 84d ssl use a nfi version then flash an 84d version of openpli and from its feed install autobouquets maker this will be used to scan your channels in.

Superb, Thanks Ferret.

Will download ready for tuner arriving in the next few weeks.

Much appreciated.

Hi Ferret,

Taking your advice from the downloads section I was going to select

84d SSL - OpenATV-4.2 beta-dm800 #ssl84d Cable Ready

84d openpli - DM800HD-pli4-VMSkin

Can you confirm the 2 files I have selected are compatible with your instructions you kindly provided.

Hi Ferret,

Just returned from holiday - cable tuner received and fitted.

Just a quick bit of advice please before I start the flash.

The 84d openpli - DM800HD-pli4-VMSkin mentions a fair bit about an HDD due to the size of the file
DM800hd-Pli4-VMskin

Do I need a HDD to install this image?

Cheers

The 800 only has a small amount of memory in a lot of cases youll need to use flash expander to allow install of plugins. Most will use a usb drive for that purpose and expand the flash to it.

Mount the usb to media HDD the use the flash expander plugin to do the above then follow the instruction on the post.

Hi Ferret,

Falling at the first hurdle here.

I have installed the new cable tuner - manager to search and find around 200 channels - signal etc looks ok.

When trying to load the 84d SSL - OpenATV-4.2 beta-dm800 #ssl84d Cable Ready image via the browser it is showing INVALID IMAGE (OR OLD VERSION)

Bootloader is showing 75 via DCC Telnet check - Maybe a problem with the sim Version number ??

Any ideas what else I can try?

Stupidly I tried flashing an #82 image and have got myself in some serious crap now. :-(

Screen shows - SIM 201 team #82 www.dm800sim2.com ->error! *ERR:No SIM2xx FOUND

To go back I have downloaded Dreamup but for the life of me cannot find a way of connecting a Null Modem cable - my serial port is 15 pin - Ani other options open to me?

Japher Flasher mate patched Dreamup youll need to a null cable and ethernet cable and fill out the ip option in japher to get the box into HTTP mode.

Brilliant Ferret,

Should have a null option tomorrow using an old laptop - I take it the IP address will still be the same - ie nothing changed with the previous flash.

Any ideas regards when trying to load the 84d SSL - OpenATV-4.2 beta-dm800 #ssl84d Cable Ready image via the browser it is showing INVALID IMAGE (OR OLD VERSION) - ??

The IP address for the box is the one you set it up to use in japher flasher.

You will have to flash the 84ssl first before flashing an 84 image as that the reason for the error message as your 75 ssl is to old for the new image.

Hi Mate,

Finally got the kit required together. Japhar downloaded on to an old xp laptop - null modem connected and just started to flash OpenATV-4.2 beta-dm800 #ssl84d Cable Ready image - so far so good.

Said it will take 90 mins - is this normal?

What is the process before uploading the second image 84d openpli - DM800HD-pli4-VMSkin ?? Should I unplug the box once the initial image is loaded (no reboot) and only turn on again when Japhar looks to detect it?

Cheers
