Evening chaps,

Can anyone recommend an amplifier for Virgin. The signal is just about ok coming into the house, but by time it gets upstairs (where the modem/router and Zgemma box is), it's just not up to scratch regarding watching TV.

Cheers,

Dar

Konig Yellow Brick is about the best you can find if that is you can still find them or even an official booster supplied by VM themselves, Just out of curiosity did you install the feed yourself

Thanks for the reply Digi.

Yes i ran the extension myself many years back. It is cheapo cable and shoddy connectors lol, but it use to work fine for TV and Broadband. I think i was on tap 1 in the street node, but i think i've been demoted to 3 as i don't sub to the TV.
It's still ok for the broadband. But TV is a no go (i've heard the Zgemma cable tuner isn't that sensitive either?)

:)

you could certainly try that version of the 'Amp' my first port of call though would be to replace the cable with something of CA100/TX100 full copper grade with properly fitted Compression connections you would be very surprised at the result of a correctly fitted cable.

I did one a couple of weeks back for a customer who had fitted his own a few years ago and was having serious breakup on the cable, i replaced the run around 12m with full copper and compression fittings and it cured it straight away

Are there instructions on how to use these amplifiers? I am getting a lot of BER. PF100 cable in use.

are you aware on those poor boxes signal is around 29,cheap everything will drop levels further including wrong splitters.

Mine arrived today and is working great, with both the pots/ dials set to max (default)

The only instructions are:

Use a flat headed screwdriver to turn the gain control screw to control the amount of gain for signals of different strengths.

Use a flat headed screwdriver to turn the slope control screw to compensate the coax cable loss for high-frequency signals.
