I have seen jobs advertised for VM installers with mcnicholas.was wondering if anyone on the forum ever worked for them. Online I have seen a few complaints about long hours and buying your own tools. Debating whether I should apply or not.

there is always someone thats going to complain about this and that , most people are just glad to have a wage

I worked for them years ago, didn't have to supply my own tools tho .. tbh there aint a lot of tools you need to do the job .

yep the hours can be long but then some days you will be home early, all depends on how much work they got. always a 6 day week but I was paid by the day not by the job, but I'm sure you would be paid by job so that you actually did the work and not blag to many jobs away like I did lol only joking :)

always got paid on time by cheque and was self employed . I had no complaints when I worked them but I did know most of the managers and supervisors so I had it easy .... worth a try and if you don't like it leave. work hard and you can earn the money ...........

Yeah it pay per job, drill going to cost £360 taken from wages monthly.problem is my job at the moment is OK also the wages. Hours is issue as I finish 11pm so never see kids. But it is a set shift. @Ratts how long did it take you to do jobs when you started

all depends on the size of the job mate, where the boxes are situated and how big the garden is. if you got a good partner you could bang out 4, 5 or even 6 installs
a day plus we did other jobs like repulls.

I'm sure these days you get the cable pulled for you. we had to pull our own back in the day, some sites you could be pulling a cable over 300 meters .

you will probably find that most houses these days are already live and all you got to do is connect a box up and go ...

good luck mate

Had interview now really quick they must be desperate. Been told course for 2 weeks then on minimum wage for a while till I speed up. Been told will be going out on.my own to do single installs till I speed up. Finish time is when all jobs completed . he trying to tell me they get £500 a week on job rate take home. Looked at the board some people doing 10 jobs a day unless they are working 6 days. Got a feeling job is not for me I want to be at home in evenings. Not out with more jobs otherwise pointless me changing jobs really. Plus they are sending people to different towns as well to cover undermanned areas

why don't you apply to virgin directly?

don't know which area you are from, but there's plenty of openings looking at their jobsearch pages...

Applied last night directly , will wait for answer and see if theirs is set time time or job and knock. Might have to stay where I am and look at some other sort of job instead of installer

they have already emailed back for telephone interview but no times to suit me so hopefully one available tomorrow. reading reviews for direct job look like they slot you 30 mins a job on somedays and expect you to generate sales aswell lol. will ask when they invite me for interview. doubt the telephone interview bloke knows. might look for a building job instead if this no good, used to work for a builder years ago until he retired

if its like kellys when i worked for them, u had so many jobs to do
and if finish early they try and make u do more jobs to cover the people that are slow

pay was every two weeks back then

i heard u are now self employed, so u could try and claim some bits back for the job and pay less tax
