Hi,

I have used a dreambox 800hd for a while now for sat tv with an openpli image. Does any one have any info on how to convert to cable? I am about to buy a cable tuner, but just want some idea how difficult it is and if there is more benefit to change over.

Cheers

Hi Ferret,

Sorry... I should have left out the bit about the tuner and be more precise on my question. Is it the same routine to flash the image as for sat?

Also I usually put a file in the etc folder for sat, is it the same? If it is different, are there any tutorials?

Thanks

Most cable have n cline but yes just the same if using cccam and a cable bouquet

casuk, Thanks for your info.

Does the ATV in "OpenATV" image mean cable? or can they also be sat?

All images will do both if set up correct, id use openatv for cable or sat, as it has ABM built into the image and makes it a whole lot easyer to set up

openATV is the image makers, you can use either sat or cable or both...just like blackhole images, vix images , openpli images....etc

Currently I have a OpenPLI2.1 image which I think I will try to change before re-flashing. So if i swap the tuner to a cable one, I'm guessing that other options appear in the tuner menu? as at the mo it has only sat stuff.

Then if I change the bouquet to a cable one everything should work?

Yes you put in net id for your area and scan ABM (after you set it up), that will see that a cable tuner is connected and it will pull the channels from the feed thats it, takes 20s

Hi guys,

My cable tuner came today, so change out the tuner and flashed box with openatv for cable. Now the fun starts. I have my net ID (TW, 40974 131000 6952) but when I go to tuner config, the net ID only has 5 digits. Can some please explain how to set up the tuner.

Thanks

Its the first 5,

If you are going to use AutoBouquetMaker or Lraizer's Cable plugin, set it like this. The NetID does not really matter in the tuner configuaration.

When you go into AutoBouquetsMaker: Menu > Setup > Service Searching > AutoBouquetsMaker
For your provider, select Virgin UK.
Then set it up as pictured.

He is using OpenPli guys so wont have ABM...If converting to cable ditch that image and use OpenATV with MGCamd

Thanks guys for your advice. The ABM certainly did the trick. I set it to find channels for my area and worked a treat. All though it only worked for free view channels so I think the final hurdle now is using the cline. Do I need to install a caam and then put cline in etc the same as Sat? I would have already tried this but last night when trying to download the plugins to get a caam there was a msg saying server was being updated and now I am away for a few days.

just want to say guys you are really helpful and a real big thanks from me.

Yes its the same as sat, but cable providers rather you use mgcam
