Hi guys. Need a bit of help here. It's my first post and I've been spending the night searching forums and Google but not much luck.

I used to have a eurovox max v many years ago until they went down and have been using cs on sly ever since. I've just heard that cable boxes are back on and was wondering if anyone can help on which box is best.

I was originally planning on getting a VU+ solo 2 because of the good reviews and I like the Vix image. Is it possible to use this box for both cable and sly cs if the cable functions ever go down?

Also, is it possible to get HD channels on cable now?

Any help appreciated

Hi yes i belive the tuners are interchangeable and its possible to get hd on virmin

I have been using an amiko combo hd running both sly and virmin (lacks a hd and dual tuners)

box is basic but good build quality in my opinion from the amiko

hope that helps

The Tuners on the Vu+ Solo2 are not interchangeable i am afraid to say as they are soldered to the main Board, you can of course use an external USB tuner with compatible drivers. But to be perfectly honest for the price you could get a Gigablue Quad+ with cable tuner and 2 x sat tuners installed for a fair bit cheaper

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advice, Apologies I've been out of the country over the last 6 weeks. So just to get this right, it's possible to run cable as we used to back in the day (no CS) and CS on Sat simultaneously?

Is there a single image that can handle both functions? I really like Vix which is why I wanted a VU+ but not sure if it can deal with cable.

Cheers

Image is image. The tuner decides what you can view.

The Vu Uno/Vu SE have a single swappabe tuner slot. If you want to view both satellite and cable you want a receiver with both types of tuners. Ultimo and Duo2 have more slots.

There are other brands you can use.

I see, thanks for that. I've actually just been digging around and only just found out that most HD has gone down for Sly CS so I'm probably best sticking to SD on my DM500S.

I'm looking at these Kryptview A780 which work on V***n and wondering is there a HD to this? Or can I use the old Eurovox Max I have from years ago?

better to get your own box mate then get your own line than being tied to a kv box which aint very good to be honest.you could get a zgemma for £70 from china or £77 from uk and then get your own line for circa £80 per year with a dvbs and dvbc tuner. vm is absolutely rock sold with the right person - as good as the old days or as near as you will ever get it now.

Agree with this. Had my zgemma for a few days now, recorded the fight on it last night on a USB stick. For the price I'm pretty pleased with it. Tried a s*y test line on it tonight. Cable, s*y and IPTV for 75, plus the cable tuner is a lot better than my old dm500c
