Hi all, I'm new to this site. I have had a Motorola surfboard 4100for around 3 years now and it's been down a good few times and I just keep changing the mac. But it has went down and any new macs i try don't work. I consider myself a rookie on the whole cable modem thing. I am convinced I am doing things the wrong way so I would appreciate if someone. Could point me in the direction of any 4100 guides so I can learn more? Thanks in advance.

Welcome traveller from the past, perhaps you might be better visiting the British Museum for some more information on your relic.

In the meantime, how about introducing yourself in the appropriate thread.

Hi Kelly, to be honest you have been very lucky that it has worked for this long. These have gone off and not been working for a very long time now. It will be near enough impossible to get it working they way it has been.
best thing to do is try haggling with the ISP for the best deal possible.
Count yourself lucky you got all these years for free.

@ tekquest no need to be cheeky or snide, whats the point in posting an irrelevant post?

This modem may be old, but so far it has provided me with 2 and a half years of free internet, which i am grateful for.
Paying for a monthly service of internet is simply out the window for me. I have already gone down the route of haggling with isp's, the cheapest deal i found is 36 pounds per month, which is 36 pounds per month too much for me!
