Hi lads and lasses,

I have made a shambles of flashing my new box over the network so now I have downloaded Dreamup and have connected a null modem cable.

It recognised the dream box straight away and it went through the Act: "flashing"

The progress bar shows that it's complete but the Status says "upload completed, waiting for acknowledge..."

It's been sitting like that for the last 20mins and I'm wondering should I reboot or what should I do?

It's a DM600PVR I have an image ready to flash but the only option not greyed out on the Dreamup application is "Disconnect"

Do I need to wait longer or do I need to reboot?

I couldn't find a tutorial on Dreamup that's why I started this post.

Thanks for your help

Ok,

I disconnected and rebooted holding the the on/off button for 10-15 secs and after the flash-loader completed it started the HTTP Serial and the Flash button became enabled. I selected the image from my directory.

But now I get the following error:
"Got wrong response from the box: HTTP/1.0 400 Bad Request Server: yahd v1.0

<http><"

Any ideas whats happening here?

Ok,

Managed to sort it. I was connecting the serial cable to my laptop through a docking station. After I unhooked the docking station and tried it again with the same image, it has started downloading straight away... 25 mins and counting...

Lovely job! Eventually got the image on - had to wait til I got home to test it.

Now to move on to the fun part and start configuring this animal. More questions on the way :)

OK,

Back in trouble. I was using pli-Hel.. image and decided to flash a new image but to do it over the LAN as it would be faster. I put the box in to stop mode via the image GUI on the TV.

I then tried to connect to the box via http but not a sausage.

I tried to flash using the null cable as before but now I can't get it to connect at all even holding the power button - after turning it off and on.

Any ideas? Going to see if I can find another NULL Modem cable in the mean time.

Those useless bunch of gobshites in Maplin sold me a pup!

I bought a null modem yesterday from them so I wouldn't have to use my buddies one. €16 for a pup!

Anyhow to make a long story short... The box is in the process of flashing now. Once it's done I'm going to FTP on some config files and go from there.

Right I have the image on.

I have downloaded evocamd on to my PC and have connected up a crossover cable between my laptop and the DM600T.

Is there any software that I can use through the serial to configure the ip address. I assume you use hyperterminal but what setting do I use?

You won't need to use the serial cable. It would be possible, but it's awkward and I don't know of any programs that do it 'automagically' The way to set the ip address is to go into Settings page on the dreambox. For the 500C I've got, I press menu on the remote, then select 'Settings -> Expert settings -> Communication settings'. You can set the ip address from there.

Good luck.

Ok,

Managed to connect via Hyperterminal using Baud 115200, Flowcontrol=none. Found it in another post.

Now it seems to be stuck on
"Now booting the kernel"

Does the box need to be connected to an aerial to boot correctly?

Is it connected to a TV? You're not going to see much past 'booting the kernel' anyway through hyperterminal unless you specify some boot options. And yes, some images will hang unless they get an aerial feed. They sit there waiting for a signal indefinitely. At least that's what I've found.

Hi boys and girls,

Sorry about this but I'm missing something... I've flashed my DM600 with CLI-DM600 from the dowloads section but the only channel I see is RTE one all the rest of them are blank. When I go on to them a black screen appears.

I have read that I need to upload a new evocamd.

Unfortunately this is where the newbie in me doesn't know where to go. I have downloaded the latest evocamd and ftp'd the file to the /var/keys directory and rebooted the box but I am still seeing the same issue.

Can anyone throw some light on the situation or point me in the right direction.

Thanks all - I'm so close to getting this working I can taste it. All help is much appreciated.

Switched from evocamd216 to evocamd214 by preseeing the Blue blutton and going through the menus.

I have access to all channels now. Next thing is to figure out using the EPG and bouquets... The fun continues
