Record ok but cannot play movie

Hi all

Still new to this.....

I have finanlly managed to record TV direct to my pc. However when I try the file via the dreambox 500c and it won't work.

I am using the Neutrino UK05 image so I go into Movie/Video player and select 'PC Recording browser'. The menu then shows the recorded files for me to view.

When I press ok to view one of them the TV screen turns black and basically freezes. I can't do anything and have to restart the dreambox.

I have also tried using the 'Play TS' option instead of the 'PC Recording browser' but the same thing happens.

Can anyone provide any answers? Do I need to change the recording settings possibly?

Also the size of the recording seems to be huge - a 1 minute fle is like 30ishmeg. Is this right as it sounds massive?

Any help would be greatly apprieciated.

hi m8, try using vlc player ( www.videolan.org ), it should come with the required codec to play back .ts files

How does the VLC player work? Do I need to install it and stuff?

I changed the number of ring buffers in 'Direct Recording' settings on the DM500c to 20 and it plays back a bit better but very very jerky.

Is there an optimum list of settings for best recording?

VLC player wont play the file.......

I have jsut recorded the Liverpool v Inter Milan game (10 secs worth) to my PC and when I try to play it nothing happens. The VLC player plays for a milli second then stops as if there is nothing there...

Hhhhmmmm.....any thoughts?
