The MAX should 'always' be attached to a surge protector (any decent re-seller will tell you this).

Like most 'reasonably priced - pay for itself in a few months boxes' - if the thing screws up - I'd doubt if you'd get a freebie off the original supplier unless they were 'very generous/wealthy/drunk etc, you could show that there was def a surge protector (if they stated this in their fleabay ad or wherever...).

Throwing hardware at them may satisfy a short term need - but is unlikely to get you much long term support...!

There's a capacitor on the main PSU which seems to be prone to blowing (especially if you have a few other items attached to the same power feed).

Sh!t happens...your reseller may refund, otherwise get another box. There's always the 'subs' option.... (which does provide customer support - lol)

No point in getting too grumpy at the box itself - it neither knows nor cares - it sounds like either the main circuit board or the PSU has taken a hit somewhere ;)

"Cable theft isn't a God given right" - while it's a pain in the ass - there's no guaranteed freebie solution which will ever last without the chance of hardware/software failure or cable co' intervention!!!

at least i know where i stand with it not the answer i wuz looking for but what the hell
thanx again m8

Just 'been there - done that' use a surge protector always (regardless of which box) - appreciate the thanks M8 - returned

If it helps at all - think of my reply as the letter you'd get if you were hoping for good news about that important bank loan - lol ;)

Try the guys at EVS - they'll usually drop the one off price for a decent sobs story (just don't try it too often! :)
