hi guys, basically iv bought some artificial grass for my back garden, it will be going straight over the top of concrete slabs, but im struggling to find a glue that will stick it down, any ideas, it needs to bond rubber matting to concrete and stay there, lol, any help appreciated.

I thought you needed some underlay first?

Is this the same as astroturf ?

I heard it can rip if its stuck directly to the concrete, do not quote me though just something I heard from a builder in the past.

this is the stuff iv bought

Thick Artificial Grass 4m Wide, Cheap Lawn Turf Fake Plastic Green Garden | eBay

will check the links out now, its only a 4x5m space its going down on, its all pretty level so i was just thinking sticking it down straight over the top of the concrete and glue the twat down, lol, sure it'll be fine.

This one looks like yours - DIY Installation - in summary, use waterproof adhesive (Aquabond - same site) and just stick the twat round the edges :)

do not lay it over flags m8 waste of time and money take the flags up build a 4x2 wooden edge around the perimeter and use sharp sand
and a whacker compact sand and lay on sand also you need to pin it down into the sand with pegs

You really need to bed it on sand and then like H says, a good quality outdoor glue for the edges.

unfortunately all the slabs have been concreted in at all points and if i start breaking it up theres loads, then ill need to get rid of it all so theres a skip, and to be honest i dont have the time, money, or patience for that, i understand the correct way to do it is to lay correct founds for it but its just not viable with my time frame and budget, so it has to go over the concrete slabs, there all nice and level so cant see why it wouldnt work the same, aslong as i bond it to the concrete it should be fine, appreciate the reply though, and your probably right ;).

You going to glue it to the sand then miggy

The edges will be free from sand you silly sod. :eh?: The purpose of the sand is 1, it covers imperfections and 2, it acts as a good drainage, it soaks up in the sand any rainwater ect. Failing to do this could result in bubbles in your grass. :)

While it's better down on sand the makers reckon it can be laid on any sound surface. I confess I haven't done this as when I suggested it to Mrs M (having done all the research and priced it up) it got decidely chilly so I quietly dropped the idea lol

You might want to consider a weed-barrier though, use a bit of builders sand to level off any uneven bits and make sure the sand and barrier are clear of the adhesive. You might want to seal the areas you plan to use adhesive on.

Sounds like me, Wiz and Miggy will be up for lending a hand ;)

ok m8 no worries i understand you need to stick to a budget you anywhere in northwest manchester ?

why i say it needs to be a sand area is you need to peg the edges once its laid might be difficult into concrete flags
and you fold back either end and use the glue then fold them back its also very hard to cut to shape or size good stanley blade needed you can also use a rubber crumb to brush over the grass or silica sand

i totally understand mate and should really have thought about it abit more, but i got the idea and ordered it, that was that, im also having 2 decking areas and a new fence all round at same time.

my plans were too just cut to size then use some sort of waterproof adhesive all round the edges and maybe a few strips down the middle just too hold it all in place, that still is my plan i guess, as any other options are just going to cause carnage, which i dont want, iv watched a couple of vids on youtube where they lay it over concrete and it looks fine once done, also my garden slopes so it will drain down to my drain.

will get some pics of before and after once its done and see how it ends up, lol!

Ah but you just said bed it on sand and then glue it down :p

You forgot to mention the batons around the edge to which it should be pegged or nailed ;)
